→ New Jack Swing → The story of Harlem in the late '80s is engraved in hip-hop lore. The crack epidemic was at full force and violence became rampant as the center of Black culture revivalism became synonymous with urban decay. Under these conditions, a young musical prodigy named Teddy Riley was steadily gaining attention with this new rhythmic sound. In a 1987 Village Voice article, writer Barry Michael Cooper christened Riley's sonic concoction the "New Jack Swing" and it wasn't long before the new sound became a movement.

Peace, Love, And all that good stuff!

WoS- Aberration - The act of departing from the right, normal, or usual course. (Deviation from truth or moral rectitude)

QoS- "If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace."

Off-Topic: Ricky Rozay | Never ask for head | New York's Glorified Hooters

    Main Topics:

This week we had no specific direction for the show or the message we were trying to get across to our listeners. Instead we decided to vibe off of some random but connected things that we came up throughout this past week. From FB post to continued marriage talks we provide our introspection on cheating, marriage, whether or not your children should be seen as the most important within a family dynamic, and finally our youth having unlimited access to sex.

Vibe with us as we go through our introspection on these various topics while connecting them!

  • ii-042 The Black Who Cried Wolf... Tot Tot Tottie

Peace, Love, and all that good stuff!

WoS – Moxie – Courage; nerve; determination

QoS – For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.
Off-Topic – Movin on up, to the eastside | Florida about to change the game | NBA Youngboy hittin his girl

Topic – The Progressive Oppressive Mindset

~The Progressive Oppressive Mindset is the type of mindset who looks to break barriers (race, gender, inequality, etc.) and influence change but does by trying to band together and force the hands of the oppressor through the use of boycotts.

~The more knowledgeable we become in this world the more we look for equality. This means what ever our white brothers and sisters get we have to either meet that or surpass that. And if we are lowballed we are quick to pull the race card, gender card, and any other card that can start a ongoing conversation.
~ This happens across the board but more specifically I’m speaking exclusively on the African community. The most current happening of this is the whole Monique Vs. Netflix situation.
~When Monique didn’t get what she wanted money wise she decided to call out Netflix claiming gender and race bias as well as calling for a boycott.
~Gender/race bias are present today but every time we don’t get exactly what we want we cant just pull those political cards thinking that these white corporations are going to jump. The only thing that makes them move is money and competition.
~ Looking to change what they are doing that you see is wrong is the progressive side working for the better of all that comes behind you BUT doing that by calling for boycotting in hopes that white corporate America will even budge is the oppressive side at work thus you have the progressive oppressive mindset.

Break | WYD x Nowell Major

Topic – Motherly Duty vs. Parental knowledge

~Does a mother have right to ask her child’s father how he knows his child’s social?

~I think asking a father how he knows something about his child is blatant disrespect
~I can see if he is a dead beat and wants nothing to do with his child but if he isn’t and you still feel the need to ask that, I think it is a clear slap in the face.
~People are shady and use their child’s social for bills and cable and such but whose to say the mom wont do the same thing
~The only time I think that question should be asked is if a parent is asking for the social security number out of the blue so now you need to question as to why he/she is asking for it, what they need it for, and so on.
~But to just ask how you got your child’s social is disrespectful to a responsible father doing what he needs to do in order to take care of his child.
~Motherly duty is to protect and provide and so is the fathers and I think it is common parental knowledge to have access to your child’s important information, period.

  • ii-040 Fifty Shades of Lust

Peace, Love, and all that good stuff!

WoS- Lust – (1) intense sexual desire or appetite. (2) a passionate or overmastering desire or craving (usually followed by for):

QoS- “People confuse ego, lust, insecurity with true love.” – Simon Cowell

“Curiosity is the lust of the mind.” – Thomas Hobbes

Off Topic- Our first Intros | Florida shooting

    Topic #1 Sex and love

Can sex and love be separated in the sense that you can have sex without much of any feeling attached and you can love in the absence of sex? Sex and lust derive from possessive ideals. People tend to confuse love with lust through the lens of sex. How can we identify the borders of love, lust and sex?

What does it mean if you imagine having sex with someone that’s not the person you are having sex with currently?

    Topic #2- The Age Gap

The age gap when dating, can it work, and how it works. When one is ready for certain stages of life and the other is not quite there yet how does it affect decisions moving forward. It's different if the man is older vs. the woman. What age is it proper to date, is it age or mentality. You can be 21 and immature but 17 and wise

Peace, Love, and all that good Stuff !

QoS – “Education must not simply teach work- it must teach life.” – W.E.B. Du Bois

WoS – Epistemic - of or relating to knowledge or the conditions for acquiring it.
Off topic – Queen Nefertiti 3D reconstruction | McDonalds Fries | Gay child asks you to be in his wedding

    Education vs. Edumacation

~Education is education and as long as you, as a parent, are involved in the educational process of your child the environment they are in will not influence them in terms of success. BUT the environment can affect the authenticity of your blackness (other minority groups).
~Meaning being in a predominately white environment can, but not always, deny minorities (especially Africans) authentic experiences of their people and their history. By sugarcoating, whitewashing, and lack of African representation.
~It does make sense to give your child an education as opposed to an edumacation in terms of accessibility. Suburban and private schools have the means and capital to maximize learning opportunity but lacks the component that aids in building your authentic self.

Break: The Young Aquarian x Marcus World Soul

    The Authentic Self

~The authentic self has everything to do with knowing exactly who you are without any form of doubt. If you choose to hang with solely white people and you are black or vice versa that should never compromise the authenticity of your blackness, whiteness, mexicanes, Dominicanness, etc. and the culture behind it.

  • ii-037 Lost In The Sauce Of Love, Money, And Society In My Eyes

Peace, Love and all that good stuff !

WoS – Humble – (1) not proud or arrogant; modest: (2) having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority, subservience, etc.: (3) low in rank, importance, status, quality, etc.; lowly: (4) courteously respectful:

QoS – “Jealousy is no more than feeling alone against smiling enemies.” –Elizabeth Bowen

Off Topic – Fredo Santana, Lean | Getting pushed up on

Topic #1 – Monique Vs Netflix

This week Monique called for a boycott of Netflix because they offered her $500,000 to do her own comedy special. She stated that she was referred to as one of the legends in comedy but still was low balled when it came to the offer put on the table. The boycott that she called for stems from her belief that Netflix partook in color and gender bias during negotiations. Tons of people weighed in and are still weighing in on this story and its something to be talked about. First of all we must understand what boycotting is from a historical standpoint. Once we TRULY understand this we will stop calling for them all together. Secondly the act of being humble is truly a skill not a natural walk of life. If we are truly humbled then others can knock us off our game because we already know what we are worth. Another option is CREATE YOUR OWN PLATFORM !

    Break--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Break

Topic #2 – Humbled Inexperienced Advice

People tend to give advice in areas in which they do not have much experience or any at all. How can one give advice on something they don’t have experience in? Can someone give advice in situations in which they do have the experience? Parental advice and relationship advice are among the most common where people give advice or attempt to give advice to others who seek it.

  • ii-036 You A Cheatin Joker Or A Broken Soul

Peace, Love, And all that good stuff!

This week we got one one question, are you a cheatin joker or a broken soul!?

WoS – Cheat – (1) To defraud; swindle (2) To deceive; influence by fraud (3) To elude; deprive of something expected (4) A person who acts dishonestly, deceives, or defrauds

QoS – “Forgive those who have hurt you.” – Les Brown

Off Topic – The Tripod ! | Natured not Nurtured

    Is cheating forgivable?

    Break - #BaeGoals X Flamo

    Topic #2 – Why don’t people cheat?

Your in love | Focused on your partner | No point | Already feel loved | Happiness | They believe they could just be single | Good Foundation | Strong Friendship | Don’t want it to be done to them | Self-Control | They love their partner | Stability | Having a bond | Honest love | Strong communication | Understanding each other | Not worth it | Guilt | Morals | Financial Stability or the feeling of |

Topic #3 – The Connection Triangle

The Connection Triangle is the foundation of a healthy relationship of any kind. Tweaked to the actual type of relationship, it holds the reasons as to why you choose to be faithful, honest and loyal to that particular person. Depending on the type of the relationship the connections may be emphasized differently but will still be the foundation of the relationship. When one of the connections is broken then they invite dysfunction into the relationship, which enables you to be attracted to others either purposely or accidentally. It’s the law of attraction, whether we are doing it knowingly or unknowingly, every second of our existence, we are acting as human magnets sending out our thoughts and emotions and attracting back more of what we have put out. Depending on which connection is broken you will attract that same connection from a person other than your significant other(s).

Topic #2 – Rochester Local Talent and Support

Rochester is a very some timey community when it comes to supporting local talent of any kind. Whether its radio, hair styling, sports, Dj, Artist, Rapper, Singer, Dancer, etc., Rochester will literally pick and choose who they want to support and who they don’t want to support. Overstanding this its hard to conquer this small pond because of how wishy washy the support is here, even up to our local radio station the good ol reliable WDKX unless money is involved then they are all for your .5 spins on the daily mix. Knowing this anybody trying to shine and make some noise in Rochester have to move a certain way to gain some traction. Reason being speaks to the natural I have to make it first mentality local talent have as opposed to having the lets conquer together mentality.

    Topic #3 – Hip-Hop Today

Hip-hop today, in this present time, is what I would say is a hit or miss industry. What this means is you are either making hits, club bangers or you missin out on all the money, fame and fortune. We have so many different types of rappers now it’s hard to vibe out to the vibrations of a diverse selection of music because they all sound the same. It’s not about lyrics and vibes anymore its all about how dope your production is. If you have a dope beat and catchy hook you are destined to make millions, if it generate the right attention. With this culture in hip-hop today how can the MCs reinvent themselves and/or take back over the game as a whole. Is that even possible anymore?

Who is on your top five of all time list? Groups count as one

I been thinking about this for some weeks and now you guys get to hear my thought processes behind the spectrum and who falls where.
