Saturday 11th October, we welcomed @federsen, label boss of @altdub, to Inverted Audio Record Store in Peckham to celebrate the release of cv313 & Federsen 'Altering Dimensions Part One'.

Having recently relocated to the UK after nearly two decades in San Francisco, this session marked Federsen’s first DJ appearance on home soil since moving to the US in 2007.

For the occasion, Federsen delivered an all-vinyl deep dive into dub techno, drawing from a carefully curated selection of records by Maurizio, Echospace Detroit, Deepchord, Chain Reaction, Basic Channel, and Rhythm & Sound. The result was a transportive, dub-driven journey that perfectly captured the timeless pulse of the genre.

Creaked Records gear up to issue their latest double vinyl album release from Swiss producer Nic As Well, previously known under the moniker Lemonick...Our pick from the album is ‘Tickler‘. Opening with precision-drilled drum patterns threaded through a maze of tension-charged frequencies, Nic As Well drags the audience in a Gqom-tinged dimension, ready to be blasted in a jam-packed yard in the townships of Alexandra. As the track unfolds, a maelstrom of stomping kicks collides with FX-warped screams, ending in a cyber aftershock that remains forever like a planetary memory.

French producer @synalegg returns to @ooh-sounds with Computer Series / Last Run - the final chapter in his radical generative music experiment. Built in Pure Data, Synalegg’s system composes autonomously, creating immersive, unpredictable sound worlds that blur the line between human design and machine logic.

The result recalls Autechre’s algorithmic precision, Jimmy Edgar’s Michaux project, and the mechanical curiosity of Aphex Twin’s Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2 - yet feels entirely its own. Glitching rhythms, fractured harmonics, and fleeting human cadences emerge from the code, forming an uncanny balance between control and surrender.

A bold statement on authorship, automation and abstraction —-Computer Series / Last Run closes Synalegg’s exploration of machine-driven composition.

Don’t Be Afraid label boss Semtek makes his return as @persuasiondj with a heavyweight remix EP on @ULTERIORMOTIVESRECORDS, featuring fresh takes from Dev/Null & Tim Reaper, Ironik and Friske. Each side of the record contains its own nuances on the dark, unnerving, and erratic pace of the original track. Dev/Null and Tim Reaper bring a spaced-out pairing of intricately designed fast-paced breaks and stripped-back gloomy reese basslines, neatly punctuated by loosely off-beat stabs swimming in delay and reverb.

Following releases from Grischer, Shjva & Pyramid Of Knowledge and Moisk, Munich-based imprint Terra Magica Records return with their eleventh release. This time the spotlight falls on label co-founder Tom of Terram alongside producer Listensport.

Our pick from the release is second track ‘Madness’, permeating with acid and live percussion. Sci-fi-tinged sonics light up the track, showcasing the EP’s ability to move both the body and mind. Elsewhere, highlights emerge in the shimmering dub-scapes of the title track, the meditative lift of ‘Spirit’, and RAMZi’s kaleidoscopic remix, each offering a different facet of the crystal.

American producer James Cook has quietly built a reputation for unhurried yet deeply considered electronic music. First appearing on Greta Cottage Workshop back in 2013 with his debut CD album 'Sleep Deep, Mountain King' and later stepping out under his Black Point alias for two vinyl releases on Cologne’s revered Out To Lunch, Cook’s productions have always carried a sense of clarity and patience.

Long-time readers may remember that in July 2020 we published IA MIX 336 Black Point, a revealing mix and interview that offered insight into both his background in music and production techniques. That mix hinted at the directions he would later explore, and 'EP 2' issued through Tokyo-based @format-records (pronounced "format"), extends that trajectory - gathering fragments of the past decade into a finely detailed four tracker.

Twenty years charting the fringes of experimental music, German record label Denovali continue their quest with the forthcoming release of 'Guaniyin', the debut full-length from Lyon-based producer Lilou Chelal, better known as Tauceti...Our pick for the premiere is 'Black Mamba', a glacial drone plunging into serpentine architectures. Tauceti conjures a cold-blooded choreography of oscillating sine waves, unfurling with the grace of a reptilian creature. Subterranean drones writhe beneath layers of tension, invoking the primordial rules of survival.

Marking its 10 Year Anniversary, NYC-based record label Black Knoll reissues 'A Fragile Geography', the landmark ambient album from American producer Rafael Anton Irisarri - a spectral cartography of loss and reconstruction forged in the aftermath of devastation...Among its six windswept movements, 'Reprisal' is our pick. Feeling like a monochrome drift of processed resonance, the piece unfolds like a ghostly transmission filtered through decaying tape. Celestial resonances blur into low-end rumbles, choirs flicker beneath distant bells, drifting away memories of a past life. This is ambient music at its most human, like a slow dissolve into psychology's dimmest corners, where geography is no longer a place, but a feeling.

Amsterdam-based producer and DJ Hame contributes to the IA MIX Series with a set that blends dubby textures, unreleased material, and tracks from artists including Martinou, Pango, and Leonel Castillo. In the interview, @hame-compathy reflects on his musical journey - from childhood instruments and early experiments with FL Studio to releases on labels like Noire & Blanche, Far Blue, and Project Indigo. He also shares the story behind @pintai growth, its sculptural and abstract visual identity, and the philosophy guiding the label’s carefully curated output.

Limited-edition cassette produced in collaboration with Inverted Audio and Zurich University of the Arts. It features a 47-minute live recording by Swiss sound artist @didianita, drawn from the Computer Signals Archive - an extraordinary collection of over 50,000 hours of underwater recordings captured since 2012 off the coasts of Spitsbergen and Helgoland as part of a long-term climate research project.

Initiated by Swiss visual artist Hannes Rickli and sound artist Valentina Vuksic, the archive documents not only the ambient hum of the ocean but also the inner workings of the observatory itself - from the power draw of instruments to shifting electromagnetic fields - creating a unique blend of marine soundscapes and machine noise. Freely accessible under a Creative Commons license, See signals sea noise has become a fertile ground for artistic exploration.

Musicians including Ben Kaczor, Dianita, Lb Honne, and Hatarii are reimagining this material through performances, installations, and workshops. A standout is Dianita’s live set, recorded during Art Basel in the courtyard of urban winery S.P.A., now presented in full on this cassette.

Marking the first physical artefact of the project’s next phase, @seesignals opens the door to curated events, club nights, interactive exhibits, and special commissions, bridging scientific rigour with artistic imagination and inviting audiences to listen differently - to the sea, to machines, and to the act of listening itself.
