Somero Enterprises plc (SOM:AIM) delivered its H1 2025 results against a backdrop of softer market conditions, highlighting both resilience and long-term growth opportunities. Revenue fell 18% in North America, its largest market, with international sales also impacted by economic uncertainty, tariffs, and high interest rates. Despite these pressures, the company maintained strong cash generation, declared an interim dividend, and continued share buybacks, supported by a debt-free balance sheet and disciplined cost management, including $6m in annualised savings. Gross margin declined to 53% due to lower volumes, but cash from operations increased year-on-year. Management reaffirmed full-year revenue guidance of c.$90m, expecting improved H2 trading from seasonality and new product launches. Key innovations included the SRS4E, Somero’s first electric boom screed, and the Hammerhead, a lower-cost laser screed designed to capture mid-market contractors and rental opportunities, alongside digital solutions such as VR training and the Somero Experts app. The group also unveiled its refreshed long-term strategic framework, built on three pillars—Fortify, Innovate, and Amplify—focused on strengthening operational excellence, driving product and technology leadership, and expanding recurring aftermarket revenues. CEO Tim Avercamp, appointed in April 2025, emphasised customer engagement, global growth opportunities, and Somero’s dominant market share of c.80% in the US. With positive long-term demand drivers in non-residential construction, including data centres, manufacturing, and warehousing, Somero remains confident in its ability to deliver sustainable growth, innovation-led market expansion, and superior shareholder returns.
