Iowa Caucus Was Over Before It Began

Listen Later

The Iowa caucus was so noncompetitive that the story the media were selling was not who would win, but who would place second. Trump did indeed dominate, as expected. Networks called the race about 30 minutes into the process - before most votes were cast.

We’ll break down the Iowa caucus results, and what the numbers suggest (if anything) about the general election.

We’ll also discuss:

  • The stopgap bill, agreed to by Congressional leaders including Senator Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Mike Johnson, to potentially keep the government open.
  • The House Freedom Caucus response to said bill.
  • The Emmys: RuPaul, Neicy Nash.
  • The bipartisan bill that would expand the child tax credit, and more.

Show notes:
New York Times:
Congressional Leaders Unveil Stopgap Bill to Head Off Shutdown

NBC News:
Congress announces major tax deal to expand child tax credit and revive breaks for businesses

Corrections:
-
We mentioned 14 appropriations bills. *There are 12. *

- We referred to Marjorie Taylor Greene as a member of the House Freedom Caucus. *She was voted out of the caucus.*
