July 16, 2022 Box Flat mine disaster 50th anniversary: John Knox and Hugh Taylor recall the events of July 1972
On the morning of 31 July 1972 news broke about a massive explosion at Box Flat mine at Swanbank. John Knox was preparing to start his day reporting the daily news at radio station 4IP. He went directly to Box Flat and was among the first to report from the disaster site. Hugh Taylor was working at Rhondda Collieries and remembers the events of that fateful day. Hugh is also current president of Ipswich Historical Society and details the commemorative plans for the weekend of 30 and 31 July 2022.

Ipswich councillors draw a line in the sand. The Pisasale name issue appears to be finally resolved after a special meeting of Ipswich City Council on July 12. It wasn't without some further angst over who said what during the local government election campaign.

July 01, 2022 Mayor blindsided over renaming road & bridge, rates increase, Spark Ipswich and airshow latest
Tensions boil over in the chamber with discussion about former mayor Paul Pisasale taking centre stage during the June 30 ordinary meeting of Ipswich City Council. There was a spectacular backflip on renaming Paul Pisasale Bridge and Pisasale Drive. In a separate meeting council announced details of its 2022-2023 budget with an increase in rates. Mayor Teresa Harding joins the show to discuss the budget and what happened in the chamber with a split vote five to four in favour of reinstating the Pisasale name on a bridge and road.
