The Iqra Writes Update #2
Welcome to the Iqra Writes update where I talk about my writing, my reading, my gaming and my recommendations for writers. I’ve spent this past month writing a lot of The Eid Engagement, and Other Weddings. We’ve come across another twist in the story which is going to lead to the next one, so watching it unfold is very exciting. Judging from the letters I’ve been getting in Us Magazine’s letters section; the readers are excited to see it happen as well. It’s very fulfilling to enjoy crafting a story and then see it being enjoyed by readers. I hope the readers will enjoy the rest of the story too.
Book recommendation
I’d like to recommend the book How to have a good day by Caroline Webb. It is full of life hacks based on psychology, neuroscience and economics. It’s easy to follow and has a lot of useful advice. I like reading books full of advice and then seeing which ones will actually stick. I might use 20% of a book like this, but it pays off in the end because it’s so helpful.
What I am playing
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing New Horizons Happy Home Paradise, which is a game about decorating vacation homes on an island resort. I love making cute little homes for the islanders. I also enjoy playing Just Dance, which is a motion control dancing game. I hold a game controller in one hand which tracks my movements as I dance, and I get a score accordingly. I like getting better and better at songs as I keep doing them. I made a little exercise routine with a 30-minute playlist to dance to. It’s a fun way to stay in shape.
Recommendation for writers
I want to recommend a writing blog that writers can benefit from. It’s called Writers Write and it is full of everything a writer could need, from writing prompts and writing advice to writing jokes and writing resources. You can find it at writerswrite.co.za.
I will close out this update with the reminder that you can find my first novel, Hackschool Project at MeraQissa.com and whenever I am done with The Eid Engagement, and Other Weddings you will find it there too. This is Iqra, signing out.
