Protests in Iran appear to have eased for now after a violent crackdown, with Iranian authorities now suggesting the country's internet may be restored in the coming days.

Meanwhile hackers disrupted state television satellite transmissions; broadcasting warnings to the Iranian government and security forces and urging them not to attack protesters.

There are varying figures for the death toll from this latest crackdown, ranging from around 4,000 to more than 16,000 Iranians killed.
