The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) has stressed the importance of a growth strategy to expand its sustainability, amidst a significant slowdown in electricity sales.Late last year, the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) told a sitting of Parliament's Public Administration and Appropriations Committee (PAAC) that JPS' sales in megawatt-hours had slowed to about 1% from 2% in the last five years.

Tom Tavares-Finson, the Jamaica Labour Party's Commissioner on the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) has announced his retirement from the position, effective January 31. 

This will conclude 20 years of service for Tavares-Finson to both the Electoral Advisory Committee (EAC) and the ECJ.
