The opposition People's National Party (PNP) has vowed to continue to protest against the appointment of Dennis Chung to the Financial Investigations Division (FID). 

Yesterday, hundreds of PNP members and supporters gathered near the Finance Ministry at Heroes Circle, in Downtown, Kingston, calling for Mr. Chung's appointment as the Division's Chief Technical Director to be revoked.

The police are warning of a trend in kidnappings where people are being abducted by motorists, pretending to be taxi operators.

In light of recent incidents, involving the disappearance of women and children, Detective Inspector in the National Strategic Anti-Gang Division, Paulette Wynter-Crosfield said persons are being forced to do ATM withdrawals.

The People’s National Party, PNP has made a formal complaint to the Office of the Political Ombudsman about alleged breaches of the Political Code of Conduct by Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness. 

This follows statements made by  Dr. Holness, who is the leader of the governing Jamaica Labour Party,  on a political platform yesterday.

The Jamaica Labour Party JLP says it would be wrong for the government to interfere in the operations of the Public Service Commission, PSC in relation to  the appointment of Dennis Chung as Chief Technical Director of the Financial Investigations division.

The government is being pressured by the opposition People's National party to revoke the appointment.

However the J-L-P says it will not be bullied to act inappropriately.

St James has recorded only one murder for the month of May. 

The division is also seeing a 67 percent decline in murders since the start of the year, with 22 murders up to June 1.

This compares to 68 for the same period last year.

The latest gun related murder occurred on April 27, while the murder in May was a domestic incident  with the use of a knife.
