The price of nitrogen is soaring with no end in sight. The cost of liquid UAN 32 is more than a dollar per pound. Dry urea is approaching that price too.
Compared to a year ago, retail fertilizer prices show all fertilizers have increased significantly, with several having well over 100% price increases. For example, 10-34-0 is now 71% more expensive, MAP is 72% higher, DAP is 79% more expensive, potash is 119% higher, urea is 148% more expensive, UAN32 is 171% higher, UAN28 179% is more costly, and anhydrous is 204% higher compared to last year.
Managing nitrogen costs this year will make or break your season. This week Aric Olson, President of Jain Irrigation, Inc., shows us two relatively inexpensive ways to reduce nitrogen costs and maximize profits this year.
Bare root trees are dug and stored without any soil around their roots. Growers protect the roots by wrapping them in damp hay, mulch, or newspaper and then covering the roots with plastic to ensure they stay hydrated. Then, these trees can be boxed up and shipped far and wide.
Trees can be bought “bare root” and then planted directly into the ground. There are numerous advantages to choosing bare-root trees or roses – including enhanced varieties and quicker plant establishment.
While it may seem intimidating, you can have greater success than traditional nursery containers by following a few basic steps.
If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” is a quote attributed to Benjamin Franklin and applies well to irrigation. Now, out of season, is the time to maintain, improve, repair your irrigation system and plan for the summer.
The question is, what do I need to do to be ready? This week Cory Broad is going to help us with that question.
Especially during times of drought, getting the most out of every drop of water is critical. Soil surfactants provide an opportunity to reduce water runoff and keep water and nutrients in the root zone longer.
Soil surfactants assist with better use of water in soil and plants. This optimization of water usage can lead to significant savings. Plus, using less water is good for the environment. Surfactants help water by penetrating clay soils, increasing moisture in dry soils, draining waterlogged soil, and increasing soil oxygen in hydric soils. Is this all too good to be true? Join us on Wednesday to find out.
We also provide opportunities to win free surfactant products during this webinar with your questions.
Capturing action on a sports field can be difficult, with years of experience capturing water on large sports fields, Michael Derewenko will review some of his favorite shoots and go over challenges and solutions from each.
From Carnoustie Golf Course in Scotland to Red Bull Stadium in New Jersey USA, we’ll discuss how difficult irrigating sports turf can be and how beautiful the final product is for capturing photographically.
All landscapes are different. Those differences include soil type, plant type, sun, shade, slopes, and root depth, to name a few. Understanding how each of these characteristics influences your irrigation schedule is critical for all water managers, landscapers, or gardeners. These characteristics are fundamental and often overlooked in your watering schedule.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday for this free webinar.
Controlled environment agriculture is becoming a popular phrase, but few understand what it takes to have a successful operation.
Greenhouses equipped with the most sustainable vertical farming technology allow you to grow and harvest the highest quality produce year-round anywhere in the world.
This is a game-changer for agriculture. Controlled environment agriculture means more food and less waste or more crop per drop. If controlled environment agriculture is something you are involved with or thinking about, or just interested in the subject, this webinar is for you.
We have assembled three of the best minds in controlled environment agriculture to help us understand the current state of the industry and future opportunities.
In 2021, Venture Capitalists invested nearly $6 billion in Controlled Environment Agriculture (“CEA”) and tech juggernauts Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are backing some prominent players in this quickly-emerging market.
But is CEA headed for the Trough of Disillusionment? In this webinar, an engineer, an agro-ecologist, and an attorney discuss the CEA industry, the state of the art in CEA technologies, barriers that modern farmers must overcome, and opportunities in CEA. Topics discussed include: Big data, technology adaptations, regulations, certifications, machine learning, and aeroponics.
Irrigation systems can be complicated and expensive. Once you decide to install a system, you want to ensure it is done right, so you don’t have to spend time and money on it again. This week, we focus on questions you need to ask before getting started to ensure your system does what you need it to do.
Due to COVID-19, the World Ag Expo went virtual last year, and it was a huge success. However, from February 8-10, they are returning to the traditional in-person format this year.
This week, we have Jennifer Fawkes, Marketing Manager for the International Agri-Center, as our guest to tell us all about it. This year, besides all the exciting irrigation technology displayed by Jain Irrigation, there are a few other excellent items to check out. This includes electric tractors, all-day tours of a winery, orchard, and packing house.
Seminars will be hosted by a diverse list of exhibitors, including Fresno State, Women in Ag for Mentoring and Empowerment, and the FBI. Tracks will cover dairy and livestock, demonstrations, orchard and vineyard management, professional development, and more. In addition, more than 95 special events, seminars, and demonstrations are scheduled for the three-day expo.
The schedule of events is available at https://bit.ly/WAE22SOE with highlights including livestock demonstrations in the new WW Livestock Systems Demonstration Pavilion, Prayer Breakfast, Ag Leadership breakfast, Toyota Tundra Giveaway drawing, and more.
During this webinar, you will learn:
We all know this term and understand the meaning yet often, collecting real-time water use information for many is unattainable.
Water managers using Jain Unity have can easily access water use information from any device that connects to the web.
More importantly, they share this information with customers, contractors, and water agencies to support their goal of proper water use and precision irrigation. During this webinar, Mike Palumbo is going to show us:
Everyone passionate about water management will get something positive from this presentation.
