  • System Management in Controlled Environment Agriculture (with Hawthorne Gardening Company)

According to Cornell University, Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is an advanced and intensive form of hydroponically-based agriculture where plants grow within a controlled environment to optimize horticultural practices.

When it comes to Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), it is critical to have a comprehensive approach to facility design and management in order to achieve optimal plant growth conditions.

Producing crops in a controlled environment, whether in a greenhouse or an indoor facility, has many advantages that can maximize efficiency and production.

This increase in production is paired with unique challenges that begin in the design phase of a facility’s operation.

Hawthorne is leading the industry in its efforts to better define and overcome these challenges, starting with an integrated approach to design.

  • Keys to 60+ Tons Processing Tomato Yields with Cory Broad and Richard Restuccia

Cory helps growers hit big yield numbers for processing tomatoes through precision irrigation and other farming practices he’s learned over the years. On Wednesday, Cory is going to share those practices with you.

The production of processing tomatoes in the United States changes each year as growers, processors, and buyers all try to navigate conditions inside the field and far beyond the soil between Bakersfield and Northern California.

Growers need to stay flexible to keep up with the changing conditions and Cory has a host of ways to stay ahead of the competition.

We are looking forward to sharing this valuable growing information with you

    Special Guest: Cory Broad.

  • Weather Based Irrigation Control – Smart, Smarter, Smartest

Water management is the single biggest issue facing our industry today. For contractors, it is the best way to differentiate your company from the competition.

There are many “smart” controllers to select from, and knowing what features help you save the most water is essential. During this presentation, you will learn:

The differences between the three levels of smart controllers

How Jain Unity makes the smartest controller even smarter
Potential savings for all three types of controllers
Why cellular communication is superior to Wi-Fi

  • Fertilizer Management Using Today’s Available Technology – Nitrogen | Aric Olson & Richard Restuccia

Is nitrogen fertilizer ruining the environment or is it the secret to how we can grow enough crops to feed the world. Maybe the answer lies somewhere in-between?

Please join us for a three part series on nitrogen management presented by Jain Irrigation’s President, Aric Olson. In this three part series you will learn:

The difference between sources of nitrogen and why knowing the difference is important

The value of organic sources of nitrogen and how to manage organic nitrogen for best results
How to use affordable technology to manage fertilizer to maximize yields, reduce pollution, and eliminate waste
Fertilizer’s impact on yield, production cost, the environment, and regulatory considerations
Aric Olson has spent his lifetime in agriculture, the last 14 as President of Jain Irrigation, todays leader in agricultural irrigation technology. He also earned Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. This unique combination makes Aric’s input on nitrogen management so valuable. We look forward to seeing you at these important presentations.

  • Water Reuse (Expansion of Recycled Water for Irrigation) with Erin Bonney Casey & Richard Restuccia

Water reuse (the process of recycling wastewater) is taking off in states facing scarcity and the return of drought conditions. Municipal wastewater reuse capacity is expected to dramatically increase over the next 6 years, with over 700 projects presently in planning across the U.S., and the EPA’s recent release of its Draft Water Reuse Action Plan seeking to establish guidelines for the sector.

Landscape irrigation is already one of the most common uses of recycled water, but California and Florida have been using it in their agriculture for over 40 years, too. Our guest, Bluefield Research Director Erin Bonney Casey, will map out the current water reuse market in the U.S., as well its potential for future growth, including:·

Replacing sole source dependence on potable water resources for irrigation.

Will municipal water and sewer rates fund reuse projects?
    Public vs. Private Decentralized Reuse
New applications for reclaimed water in Agriculture and more.
Potential impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the reuse market.
Water reuse is critical to the future of water. We hope you can join us for our JAIN lunch and learn presentation on this timely subject.

  • Get Compliant With Senate Bill 88 (SB88) & Avoid Fines

Senate Bill 88 (SB88) is a game-changer for California Ag water. It requires the State Water Resources Control Board to adopt new Water Diversion Measurement and reporting regulations for surface water diversions. Water users have been required to report diversions since 1966, but these regulatory changes added requirements and increased penalties. These regulations require using a device to measure and record the amount of water used and diverted. It is also required to have online reporting of water used, and diverted.

In this webinar you will learn:

The regulations and requirements of SB88, along with how Jain can help make sure you comply.

How to select a measuring device.
    Installation of the measuring device.
How to use Jain software, to automate the reporting process.
    Measurement frequency requirements.
    Potential financial assistance programs.
You don’t want to miss this opportunity to learn how to avoid fines from one of the best water managers in the valley. I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

    Special Guest: Steven Soares.
