Wintrow Vestrit takes command of Vivacia in the wake of King Kennit's death. He struggles to fill the void left by his mentor and get the crew out alive from the Jamaillian fleet threat. Brashen and Althea, reunited on Paragon, fight next to Vivacia. Loss looms over all of the crewmates as they're still in danger. 

Paragon and Vivacia rush to Kennit's rescue, carrying their crews. The Jamaillian crew won't give Satrap Cosgo and Kennit up alive and turn to kill the two. Amidst the rescue attempt, Malta and Reyn reunite, Etta and Wintrow rush towards Kennit, they save the Satrap, and Kennit is ultimately reunited with his family liveship. 

In this episode, we read and talk about The Inheritance, a short story by Robin Hobb about Bingtown Traders that is in a book by the same name. It's our 5 year anniversary and we answer your questions, as well! 

The Jamaillian fleet approaches Vivacia and King Kennit. Kennit displays Satrap Cosgo while grappling with the revelation that Etta is pregnant. The 'delegation' from Jamaillia turns out to be an aggressive force to seize the Satrap back. Kennit jumps off Vivacia and pursues. Paragon sails into the scene and chases him. 

The Jamaillian fleet arrives for Satrap Cosgo but Kennit won't give up without a fight. Wintrow, Althea, and finally Malta tell their stories and catch up. Eventually, they go on deck to witness Kennit unleash the serpents and Tintaglia to show up. 

The young Vestrits and Havens are gathered onboard Vivacia for a reunion. Kennit ushers the Satrap into the negotiating room and starts securing his kingdom. Malta does her best while everyone grows bored of Kennit's increasingly outrageous demands. 

Paragon has been recarved by Amber, and Brashen worries about their lack of plan to save Althea. Malta has an offer that Kennit can't refuse, and the Vestrit/Haven family reunion briefly happens onboard Vivacia. Plots and characters are coming to a head!

Althea lies in wait for Kennit, attacking him when he enters. She escapes her room and tries to tell Wintrow what happened to her. Etta overhears and fights Althea. Kennit's luck prevails and only his mistreatment of Etta seems to bother the crew as almost no one believes Althea. 

Tintaglia and Reyn Khuprus grow closer during their search for Malta. The Rain Wilder's dragon traits are becoming more pronounced and he manages to dream of Malta, connecting with her. She is still onboard the pirate's ship and needs to convince Satrap Cosgo to play along with her to be able to save them both.
