It's Avengers: Age of Ultron!

Not the worst Avengers movie apparently. It's a movie we can't work out if we're honest. It's not that good but can it be considered terrible? Compared to some other comic book movies we've watched, certainly not. However, if you compare it to the solo MCU movies, you'd have to concede that it doesn't live up to the standard - particularly not the one set by Guardians of the Galaxy. Wait until you hear Madge's ranking at the start of part 2 though. You may be shocked (you won't).

We explore the origins of Ultron and Vision and also touch on the potentially incestual relationship between Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver from certain comic books.

Also!

We are once again joined by our baby who likes to make himself heard on the recording. I lose as much as I can in the edit but I apologise if the interruptions annoy you. It's Guardians of the Galaxy!

Is it the best MCU film? This one probably is actually and you can tell because Madge claims to "quite" like it. She also ranks it fairly highly (by her comic book hating standards) so look out for that towards the beginning of Part 2.

As always we explore the paper page origins of the movie's characters and focus heavily on Drax the Destroyer, simply because his origin is so dumb. It's Captain America: The Winter Soldier!

Kris thinks this is very good whilst Madge thinks it is probably just OK. She likes ScarJo though (as always) but controversially finds Cap himself a little dull. Each to their own. Kris just waits for him to take his shirt off and then hits pause.

It's Thor: The Dark World!

And it is shockingly bad. It's probably the worst MCU film to date and we are not kind to it in our review. It's a shame really, the protagonist was given nothing to work with and it took a minor miracle to bring him back to popularity. Still, he looks good with his shirt off at least.

We talk about the absolute legend, that is Walt Simonson and about what a thoroughly good egg he seems to be. If he were an egg it would undoubtedly be a dinosaur egg because he bloody loves a dinosaur does Walt and we love him.

Also!

Hear the tragic backstory of Malekith the Accursed - a character who could have been a real heavy hitter in the MCU but was instead given a terrible design and squandered. Read comics though because he's good in those.

It's Iron Man 3!

The much awaited follow up to the first big MCU and it doesn't disappoint! It just doesn't wow either. Probably it just mehs. There's some really weird plot decisions that never quite add up when you factor in the wider MCU. It's fine though but Madge thinks it's bad.

Listen as the MCU's ultimate villain is discussed. It's pretty shocking actually that so many actors, characters and movies were stopped dead by one person's prejudices. Be kind to people and then good things happen - something which has been thankfully proven time and again since 2015.

It's Mystery Men!

A good movie to end our 90s odyssey on with a stellar cast and some pretty good jokes. For those of you keeping up with the release schedule (god bless each and every one of you), this is a good Christmas movie if you're looking for something different to watch. Even Madge thought it was alright and she hates everything.

Kris delves once again into the history of comic books and where the Mystery Men originate from. It's a pretty surprising source to be honest and one that's definitely worth a glimpse if you get the chance.

Also!

Did you know that this is the movie that Smashmouth's "All Star" was originally associated with? You heard right. Whilst Shrek was still being voiced by Chris Farley, Smashmouth were shooting a music video with Stiller and co. Seriously, look it up.

It's Judge Dredd!

A movie for which the word 'meh' could have been invented. It's not bad but it's not exactly exciting either. I guess if you like you could imagine a boring version of Total Recall or Blade Runner with big gold shoulder pads.

There's a bit of a look into 2000AD - the legendary British comic book and its origins. Also covered in this part is how Judge Dredd came to be and what influenced the dystopian lawman. Basically, you can't really cover one without the other so here you have it.

It's Barb Wire!

It's another film that's really hard to tell if it was on to something or it's just plain awful. Give it a watch though if you can because some of it is excellent and some of it is funny.

It's Spawn!

Another story about a man returning from the dead except this time it's far, far duller. It's probably the worst movie we've watched for the podcast so far and that is really saying something considering we watched Catwoman. We get through it together though and we invite you to join us in doing so.

We dip into the history of Image Comics to see what lead to its founding and the impact the company has had since. This inevitably leads to a bit of 90s comic book bashing but, lets be honest here, they deserve it.

'Is That A Cape?' returns! Like Spawn, like The Crow and like other poorly conceived character origins, the feature where we assess the superhero styles, the vigilante vogue is back. You've got Spawn, Venom, The Prowler and Nightwatch all given the Joan Rivers treatment this time so stick around.
