According to the prevailing view of eschatology, the Church loses here on earth. The world getting "worse and worse" is only a confirmation that we are closer to the end (of the church's losing mission). But just as Joseph, Moses, Daniel, Paul, and even Jesus himself were faced with overwhelming odds, God gave them the victory. Biblical history doesn't support a loser's mentality.
