This plant is known for its chemical compounds that create feelings of euphoria and openness in those who imbibe it. 

Listen as we delve into the evolution of the use of cacao in ritual from the ancient Mayans and Aztecs to modern day ceremonies. This plant continues to share its magic with us as we set the intention to go inward and allow it to do its work in us.

In this episode of Is This Sh!t Legit? we're talking all about yoga. 

We go into the history and origins, the different types, and the original intention behind yoga as a practice.

In her research, Keri found that the practice of yoga has evolved a lot since its beginnings to get to where it is now. With the British colonization of India, the idea of productivity was introduced into the Indian culture making yoga illegal to practice. Leading a yogic lifestyle became taboo forcing it underground. This fundamentally changed yoga as a lot of the original texts were lost and/or incorrectly translated. 

When yoga was introduced to the western world with its obsession with fitness it became a new way to workout. Again, a departure from its original intention. 

Keri shares about how her yoga practice is an essential part of her wellbeing and her preference to practice solo. Heather shares about her journey with yoga and her love of a challenge that she finds through her practice.

In this episode of Is This Sh!t Legit? we talk about the magic of Reiki, AKA universal life force energy.

If you've never experienced a Reiki treatment, this episode peels back the curtain to give you a solid understanding of what actually goes on in a session. 

We explore the history and origins of this healing technique, the intentions behind it and how it works. Although Reiki is a relatively new healing modality, it has a likeness to the laying on of hands, which is an ancient form of healing.

Just like anything, the experience you receive in a Reiki session will depend on the practitioner you see. Reiki complements and even amplifies any existing gifts a practitioner may have, so how any one practitioner connects with and shares it will be very personal. 

Heather shares her story of how Reiki was her introduction into the world of energy healing and how that's informed her journey to becoming a practitioner. 

Keri asks the tough questions to get to the bottom of things as we delve into the topics of cultural appropriation and scams in the healing industry.

We come to the conclusion that Reiki is the fiber of healing. It's not intended to cure, but works great as a supplement.

In this episode of Is This Sh!t Legit? we talk about hypnosis. What is it? How does it work? Why does it get such a bad rap?

There are many different forms of hypnosis and when used with the intention of connecting with the unconscious mind to make positive shifts in your life, it can be a very effective. Unfortunately, this technique has gotten a bad rap leaving many people leery of going into a trance state.

We demystify the experience of hypnosis by talking about what's actually happening when you enter into trance as well as some best practices you can look for to ensure you're working with someone who will be a responsible guide as you enter this vulnerable state.

Heather shares her experiences from both sides of the equation, as a client whose worked with a professional hypnotist over a prolonged period of time and as a practitioner who has led others through hypnosis. 

Keri has an uh-ha moment when she realizes that maybe she has more experience with hypnosis than she previously thought.

In the last episode of 2023 of Is This Sh!t Legit? we talk about the practice of Manifestation.  This topic felt appropriate as we near the New Year and the tradition of setting New Year's resolutions.

There are a lot of different beliefs around the practice of manifestation and what someone needs to do in order to manifest that have been taught in the book The Secret or The Law of Attraction that say you need to think positive and stay in the vibration. If that works for you, great, but that's not what this episode is about. 

In this episode Heather shares the process that she learned from To Be Magnetic, which was developed by  Lacy Phillips, who teaches that we manifest from our subconscious beliefs.

In this particular process you gain agency to actively work toward what you want to create in your life by moving through a 3 part manifestation process: expanding, unblocking, and taking aligned action. 

We go into how to work with the mind to reprogram limiting beliefs through neuroplasticity in order to help you connect with your goals. 

Heather and Keri both share their insights on the topic of manifestation including some of the things that they've personally manifested for themselves.

In this episode of Is This Sh!t Legit? we have an epic debate on the topic of Gene Keys.

Gene Keys, a companion study to Human Design, is a personalized map to raising your state of consciousness through acknowledging and embracing your shadows in order to transform them into the gifts that are contained inside each of them. 

We share how the author of the Gene Keys book received the information contained within it as a transmission that began in 2002 that took him 7 years to complete.

The Gene Keys Golden Path, the personalized map laid out in your hologenetic profile, is broken into 3 sequences for study and contemplation: The Activation Sequence, The Venus Sequence, and The Pearl Sequence. 

Each of these sequences are devoted to guiding you through different aspects of your profile, highlighting where you, as an individual, hold shadow patterns. All of this is based off of your birth information that when calculated through astrology shows you what your particular traits are.

The recording of this episode is Keri's first exposure to Gene Keys. Keri masterfully paints Heather into a corner as she works to summarize and break down the concepts into as much of a simplified format as she can. There are some moments of struggle when Keri's questions go beyond Heather's own understanding and she must consult the book for clarity.

This one gets lively but we somehow maintain our composure as we go back and forth on many different points along the way.

In this episode of Is This Sh!t Legit? we give you a comprehensive understanding of the Chakra System and how Energy Healing works.

Because we touch on the Chakra System and different Energy Healing techniques in a lot of our episodes, we decided to devote a whole episode to diving deeper into this topic to give you, our listeners, a better understanding of what we're referring to. 

There are similar systems that have been documented by ancient Indian, Tibetan, Chinese, and Japanese cultures from around the same time period that all describe an energetic component to the human body. While these cultures use different terms to describe what they understand to be happening, they share the same concept, that our bodies contain an energy system.

We go in depth into describing the different components of the energy system, which is comprised of energy bodies, energy centers and energy channels and how these components work together to take in, transform and transmit energy both throughout the body and between the body and the surrounding environment.

Both Heather & Keri give their individual takes on how understanding and working with the Chakra System has impacted their lives personally and why they think it's important to acknowledge this part of our bodies and the role it plays.
