US President Donald Trump has made no secret of his desires to claim the autonomous Danish territory. Now three US citizens with ties to the President are accused of actively trying to recruit Greenlanders to foment opposition.

Denmark's Foreign Ministry this week summoned America's top diplomat in Copenhagen to answer the claims that have reportedly come from Danish government and intelligence officials.

The Danish Prime Minister has told reporters the US is not denying the reports, while a White House official said the Danes need to "calm down".
