Every test in our life makes us bitter or better, every problem comes to break us or makes us. The choice is ours whether we become victim or victor.
The words victim and victor have the same root origin. The prefix vict comes from latin and means to conquer. Of course, the victor is the one who does the conquering and the victim is the one who is conquered. Strange how two words can be so similar in origin, but so diametrically opposite in meaning.
When facing an unfortunate or difficult circumstance it’s easy to choose to be a victim. You may have been stung by someone hitting your car, a dishonest friend, illness, divorce or passing away of family member. In those moments you might think:
- [ ] Why did this happen to me?
- [ ] Why does the world hate me?
With victim mindset, there is a sense of helplessness. They feel powerless to change their situation. They engage frequently in the finger pointing / blame game. They actively search for reasons why they are in the state they are in and always find a way to justify the blame.
On the other side, Victors prepare their mind every day to be set to the task of what needs to be done in order to achieve the goal down the road. Preparing to achieve is a huge part of the victor’s inner operating system. Even when they fail, they don’t look for blame, they look for the lesson to learn and they get back up and go at it again. No wonder they end up winning a whole lot more than they lose.
REMEMBER - Anything that happens to you in life, no matter how difficult, presents an opportunity to be a victim or a victor. So Your future happiness depends on the choice you make.
