  • 1. Manna-hata - 1609

In 1609, the Dutch East India Company hired who they thought was the right navigator to go find the fabled waterway shortcut to Asia. But while they not only mis-calculated the ulterior designs of the slippery Englishman named Henry Hudson, they were also very interested to learn about the magnificent trove of beaver skins that his Dutch crewmen just happened to have received in trade -- directly from the natives of this place. The place which Hudson's ancient man of the sea Robert Juet recorded as "Manna-hata" before any other European had ever recorded it as such. And from that point forward, life upon this raw, fertile island, and in effect, upon the entire vast Earth, would never be the same again.

    Episode 1: Manna-hata 1609.

  • Actress Indira Varma
After coming out of the gate very strong in 1996 in the provocative and seductive, I also think, sad film Kama Sutra, she astutely perceived  the realities of type-casting, she turned away many, many early offers and turned to an entirely different medium -- the stage -- and over the ensuing years established herself as one of the foremost theatre actresses anywhere.

Whether you've seen her in Game of Thrones, Rome, ABC's For Life, anywhere on the stage or in the upcoming THIS WAY UP (Hulu) or OBI WAN (Disney+), then you know what a dynamic talent she is -- as well as a lovely spirit, as you will see.

Come along to hear all about her remarkable career that shows absolutely no sign of slowing.

Dames en heren, I present to you, the one and only Indira Varma.

  • Featherweight Champion Junior Jones
A two-time New York City Golden Gloves Champion by the time he was 18-years old, this man is as "New York" as  Madison Square Garden.

Immediately entering the professional ranks, he went on a 31 and 0 run, reigning as the Bantamweight Champion of the World.

But in 1994, when two unexpected losses threatened to derail this otherwise meteoric career, this stoic young man shrugged off the doubters and re-dedicated himself to the sport - going on a new run of nine straight wins, including a victory over future Hall of Famer Orlando Canizales. And in short order, he found himself in another title fight - against the man who many considered the best in the business and SOME to be the UNBEATABLE. And stepping into the ring the night of Nov 22, 1996 against 43 and 0 champion Marco Antonio Barrera, this courageous young man was neither intimidated nor in doubt. He knew who he was. He knew what it had taken to get there. And he carried the unbridled spirit of the streets of #Brooklyn, #NewYork in his heart and in his fists. And he proceeded to hand the heralded Marco Antonio Barrera the very first loss of his Hall of Fame career.

Come meet a man whose ferocity in the ring is rivaled only by his exemplary character beyond it.

One of the greatest ring warriors we've ever known -- and one of the finest gentlemen you'll ever meet.

    #Brooklyn's own Junior Jones.
