Israel's government has taken steps to give itself greater control over the West Bank, in a move that has been condemned by Palestinians, Arab countries and NGOs as de facto annexation.

The measures – which were made during a closed-door meeting of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet on Sunday – will make it easier for Jewish settlers to buy Palestinian land.

The measures appear to flout agreements made under the Oslo peace process; a framework to end the Israeli-Palestine conflict.
