  • WHEN GOD PUT A KING IN THE FAMILY TREE!
WHEN GOD PUT A KING IN THE FAMILY TREE! 2 Samuel 7:12–16; Luke 1:32–33 KJV The road to Bethlehem now leads us to David, the shepherd boy whom God chose to become Israel's king. From the fields of Bethlehem to the throne of Jerusalem, God prepared David for a remarkable purpose. Then He established a covenant promising David a royal descendant and an everlasting kingdom. Centuries later, the angel Gabriel announced that Jesus Christ would receive the throne of His father David. This powerful message follows God's promise from David's pasture to Bethlehem's manger, from the manger to Calvary, and from the empty tomb to Christ's glorious return. Discover why Jesus is the promised Son of David, the Savior of sinners, and the King whose kingdom will never end.

  • Work It Out
Message in the Be Joyful series through Philippians. Pastor Robert Rohlin takes up one of the most misunderstood commands in the New Testament: "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12). Paul says work OUT, not work FOR, and that one word makes all the difference. Writing under house arrest in Rome, 800 miles from Philippi, Paul commends a church whose obedience never depended on his being there. So who are we when the teacher steps out of the room? Joseph in Potiphar's house shows what obedience without an audience looks like. Heaven cannot be earned. Our best righteousness is "filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6), as Martin Luther learned on his face in the monastery at Erfurt, and salvation runs in three tenses: penalty, power and presence. The Greek verb pictures working a mine you already own. A rich uncle leaves you a gold mine, and you can frame the deed and stay poor, or go dig out the gold. God got Israel out of Egypt in one night, but it took forty years to get Egypt out of Israel. Fear and trembling is not terror of losing your salvation. It is the careful reverence of a child who does not want to grieve a loving Father, pictured from forty feet up on a wobbling crane. If you have ever wondered whether this verse means you must earn heaven after all, or you are rich in Christ but living like a pauper, this message will settle the question and send you out to dig. Please note: this message covers verse 12. Pastor Rohlin plans to take up verse 13, God at work in us to will and to do, next week.

  • A New Covenant Established (1)
Jeremiah 31:31-34 31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
