  • A New Covenant Established (2)
Hebrews 8:1-9 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. 3For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. 4For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. 6But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

  • Behold Your God! #53
This sermon examines the incident of the golden calf in Exodus 32 to highlight the role of Moses as a mediator between God and Israel. The central message focuses on two key intercessions where Moses pleads with the Lord to spare the people, grounding his appeals in God's character, reputation, and covenant promises. The analysis identifies these actions as a prophetic foreshadowing of Jesus Christ, who serves as the ultimate mediator and substitute. By contrasting Moses' limited intercession with Christ's perfect atonement, the sermon emphasizes the necessity of confession, forgiveness, and substitutionary sacrifice. The tone is instructional and pastoral, urging the audience to recognize the severity of sin and the sufficiency of Christ's work as the one who stands between humanity and a holy God.

  • Are You Born Again?
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. (John 3:1-13)

  • Galatians 3:19-29 The Purpose of the Law + PDF Discussion Guide NTRF.org
Chronicle of the Covenants: To properly understand Galatians, it is helpful to understand Hebrew history. There are three main covenants, respectively centered around 1) Abraham, 2) Moses, and 3) Jesus. God made a covenant with Abraham, and as part of it, He repeatedly promised to bless all nations of earth in Abraham's offspring. The initial physical fulfillments of the promises to Abraham were merely types (shadows) of the ultimate fulfillments of the new covenant in Jesus' blood: 1. Abraham (Promise) 2. Moses (Law) 3. Jesus (Fulfillment) Land (Canaan)---------------------------------------→ Heavenly Country Offspring Singular (Isaac)--------------------------→ Jesus Offspring Plural (Israelites)------------------------→ Church Blessing (All Nations)-------------------------------→ Gospel (Saved by Faith) Confusing: What makes this confusing is that in between the two is the temporary covenant of works mediated by Moses at Mount Sinai. It was not a covenant of grace (It had more to do with the grave than grace). It was based on law (performance), not promise. As relates to the literal, physical nation of Israel, the purpose of the law was to create a new nation from people who had been slaves all their lives, and was designed to separate them from all other peoples. It was a parenthesis between Abraham and Jesus, a covenant that is now obsolete (mission accomplished).

  • Exodus 12:1-14
(AI Generated Summary) This Lesson examines the institution of the Passover in Exodus 12 as a pivotal moment that resets Israel's calendar and establishes the necessity of substitutionary atonement. The preacher argues that unlike previous plagues which demonstrated God's sovereignty over creation, the final judgment reveals that all humanity, including Israel, stands under divine wrath for sin. The requirement of a spotless lamb whose blood is applied to the doorposts illustrates that salvation is not achieved through human merit or moral improvement but solely through the death of a substitute. This typology finds its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ, who identifies Himself as the true Passover Lamb during the Last Supper, offering His body and blood as the new covenant. The message concludes by urging believers to recognize that their entire existence is defined by this atoning work, calling for a life of gratitude and holiness that reflects the grace received through Christ's sacrifice.

  • Changed by the Glory—or Just Felt the Heat? | 2 Chronicles 7
Fire came down from heaven, and the glory of the LORD filled the house. When Israel saw what God had done at the dedication of Solomon's temple, the people bowed down and worshipped. Does witnessing a powerful moment mean it has shaped our worship and our lives? Join Pastor Ed Decker of Arnold Baptist Tabernacle for a message drawn from 2 Chronicles 5:11–7:3 and 2 Chronicles 7:12 in the King James Bible. These passages show united praise, Solomon's prayer, God's glory filling the temple, fire consuming the sacrifice, the people's worship, and God's answer: "I have heard thy prayer." The central question: Were you changed by the glory—or did you just feel the heat?
