Religious Jews in Israel recently offered a non-red heifer in order to practice the ritual of the red heifer as described in Numbers 19. They wanted to see if enough ashes would be produced to cleanse all the Jews in Israel from contact with a dead body. The Jews must be purified by the ashes of a red heifer before they can build their new temple and resume temple worship like they used to practice before they were driven into 2,000 years of exile by the Romans in 70 AD.
