Gianni Glick is a psychiatry resident at Stanford. He earned his bachelor's from UC Berkeley in 2014 and his medical degree from Brown University in 2019. He is particularly interested in group therapy, psychoneuroimmunology, and the novel applications of psychedelic therapy. He teaches an "Introduction to Psychedelic Medicine" course at Stanford university and medical school. He is most recently the 2021 recipient of the Trainee Innovator Grant award from the Stanford Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science (2021).

Victor "Vicious" Williams is truly a renaissance man. He is a current Super Welterweight (3-0) Boxer, Owner/CEO of FIGHTshapeFIT Health and Wellness, NASM/Precision Nutrition certified personal trainer, and nutritionist who graduated from Dartmouth College (2016) with a degree in engineering, as a multiyear, dual-sport athlete in Track & Field & Football. His contributions over 4 years brought home the Ivy League Championship in 2015 with individual accomplishments including All-Time Top-10 records held in total receptions (5th), total receiving yards (9th), single-season receptions (5th), & 2nd highest all-time single-game receiving yards. He is also a part of the 4x1 track team that posted a top All-Time-Top 10 time. His boxing career started soon after hanging up his cleats, developing his craft over a span of 4 years to a resounding 13-2 amateur record. With his unmatched dedication, success is no stranger to Vic, who remains undefeated in his professional career with a 4-0 record!

This week, we interview former NCAA star, Olympic athlete, and current Medical student Erica Ogwumike!
Erica chops it up with the ISSP to discuss her journey through highschool and college basketball, becoming a Tokyo 2020 olympic athlete and WNBA draft pick, and then transitioning to medical school.
Erica provides insight into how she balances a rigorous athletic career with academics in her pursuit of a medical degree. She also shares tips on her transition from athletics to medicine, transferable skills, and dealing with stress. We also discuss some of the dangers of overtraining, exercise addiction, and many of the traps athletes may fall into when they try to do too much!

Our first interview is with star NFL Linebacker Foyesade Oluokun, of the Jacksonville Jaguars! Foye discusses his unconventional journey from the Ivy League to the NFL, and also shares with us tips on how to set structured goals, overcome imposter syndrome, and much more!
Foye originates from St Louis, where he was high school teammates with Dallas Cowboys running back Zeke Elliott. He then played college football at Yale University, where he was a standout performer at both linebacker and defensive back. After being drafted in the 6th Round of 2018 NFL Draft to the Atlanta Falcons, Foye rose in prominence from a primarily special teams player to the NFL’s overall leading tackler in 2021! In March of 2022, Foye signed a lucrative deal as a free agent to the Jacksonville Jaguars

On this episode, Dr. David McDuff discusses working with the Baltimore Raven’s Championship Season, role of a professional team psychiatrist and journey in sports psychiatry. Dr. David Mcduff is is a nationally known addiction, trauma, and sports psychiatrist and a retired Army Colonel. He holds faculty appointments at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine in Baltimore. He is a long time sports psychiatrist and mental preparation trainer for the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts. He has worked with highschoolers to Olympians and has worked with athletes who participate in track, hockey, golf, windsurfing and tennis to name a few.

Dr. Bettina Frankel is a psychiatrist at the counseling center at Northwestern University and is a sports psychology team. Has been treating northwestern’s D1 athletes for the last 8 years. She is a representative for sports psychiatry in the association for college psychiatry and also a member of ISSP. Originally from Germany, Dr. Frankel completed her residency at Harvard and Northwestern and is currently a clinical faculty at Northwestern.

Dr. Danielle Kamis is a former collegiate fencer, who was a four-time NCAA championship qualifier, All American, and captain at the University of Pennsylvania
She completed her residency at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine where she is now an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor. She is now a board member with the ISSP, leading the communications division. And she co-edited the first book of its kind, the Manual of Sports Psychiatry.

Dr. Shane Creado is a board-certified psychiatrist and sleep medicine physician. He actually first completed an undergraduate degree in physical therapy, before he went on to do an MD. He completed his psychiatric residency and sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Wisconsin. Dr Creado is on the Board of Directors of the ISSP, and is on the registry of Sports Psychiatrists for the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
