Peter reminds us of his commitment to remind believers of the Truth, and reinforces that prophesy does not come from human interpretation or will, but rather comes from divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Peter continues his encouragement to believers: because we have already reached justification in God's eyes, we are to carry ourselves with holiness & grace, and to love others. Through these actions, we will know Jesus better, as He conforms each of us to be more like Him.

Because of what Christ has done for us, Peter reaffirms that we are called to act: Dr. Eckman discusses 7 responsibilities for a believer to supplement & grow their Faith.

Peter's writings at the beginning of his 2nd letter are a summary of how we should look at our lives:

God's divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life & godliness through the knowledge of Him.

Peter reaffirms personal humility & dependence on God and His grace, even when He appears to be silent. This grows & tests our faith and builds our hope, that we can be more dependent on Him & become all that He wants us to be.

Peter gives particular directions, first to the elders, how to behave themselves towards their flock; then to the younger, to be obedient and humble, & to cast their care upon God.

Dr. Eckman discusses Spiritual Gifts, and Trials vs Temptation, as Peter's writes about Living for God, and Suffering for being a Christian.

Peter builds on his message of Living for God: As Christians, we need to live by the principle that future promises should determine present behavior.

Peter reminds us that as Christians, we have a new position in Christ; we are to die to our old life & be conformed to the image of Jesus, as we line up our minds & will with that of God.

Peter teaches that as we suffer & go through difficult times, remember Christ's suffering: It was for us & accomplished our redemption. It completed His work, as we identify with Him in His death, burial, & resurrection.
