Hello Dandelions,

While his speech laid out the framework of what needed to happen in the United States of America, most of us now only remember this last portion of his dream. It may not be the most complete list of what needs to happen, but it provides a rubric for social and civil rights for all citizens. And with that, we hope that our work helps and encourages everyone to do better each day by learning and implementing change where possible. Maybe within the next 60 years, things will have gotten better.

This week has us continuing the conversation on how the KPOP industry is slowly changing, whether there are more changes coming that will impact the overall carbon footprint of the industry at large, and how the KPOP character shuffles have resulted in some interesting performances lately.

As for next week, we will begin our series on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. , Malcolm X, the Black Panther Party, and the various Civil Rights Acts that were happening around the USA in the 1960s.

In this week's episode, we hear from Nyke about the success of Korean Pop Culture as it is taught at the university level. This elicited some strong opinions from all three of us as...it seems like we might have had some contradicting opinions from the university???? Anyway, we also discuss how consumption of KPop albums may be changing (or not....) and how Bella may need to check herself for judging others on their consumption habits.

This week's episode sees us continue with last week's conversation regarding the Model Minority Myth. We continue discussing what it is, when it came about, and why it exists in the first place. Later on, we begin to discuss the colorism that the Model Minority Myth actually stems from and we hear some facts about certain terminology to describe human beings of certain origins. Why did the Black Power movement choose the word BLACK? Why were some Black folks against Korean shopowners coming into Black neighborhoods (and why was this an issue in the first place??)

We're back with a new episode on the Model Minority Myth, and in this particular episode, we share our experience growing up with this particular myth. What did it mean for us in our childhood and how has it shaped our worldview? Were we the stereotypical "good" minority? Which one of us was a rebel who forged their own path when it came to their formal education? Who knew what they wanted to do early on in life? And how did grade-level guidance counselors affect us and our decisions?

We're introducing 3 Third Gen artists in Kpop this week.

Mamamoo sets us up for third gen K-Pop with their Mr. Ambiguous. They are a crowd favorite, but Estar chose them today because Mamamoo members embody being human and artists - not sacrificing who they are for certain concepts. These ferocious and loveable four ladies have sung their way into fans' hearts while being unapologetically themselves.

Nu'est follows with their song "Overcome". Nyke chose this song as it demonstrates how strong this group was to endure and OVERCOME many of the hardships they had to endure.

B.A.P. finishes this series off with "One Shot". To Bella, this song is representative of the intensity that B.A.P. brought to their music and the message - "Never give up, keep fighting, you only have this one life to live" - they wanted to bring to their fans and listeners.
