Tommy John is a legendary baseball pitcher, who pitched with the Cleveland Indians (1963-1964), Chicago White Sox (1965-1971), Los Angeles Dodgers (1972-1974, 1976-1978), New York Yankees (1979-1982, 1986-1989), California Angels (1982-1985), and Oakland Athletics (1985). He is best known for the revolutionary surgery performed on him first, and named after him. At 288 games,the 7th most wins by a left handed pitcher, he’s the winningest left handed pitcher not enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He is also 25th on the Top 1,000 All-Time Career Wins chart. Tommy John was a four-time All-Star (1968, 1978, 1979, 1980), a three-time American League shutout leader (1966, 1966, 1980), he joined the twenty-wins club three times (1977, 1979, 1980) and after he had Tommy John Surgery, he won The Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year Award in 1976.
