Thanks for coming back for more. We actually talk about veterinary medicine and science things during this episode. Sara is in her car and Gary is in another hotel to record this episode where we recap Sara's shelter club clinic experience, and Gary goes over an puzzling post-spay "complications" case. We'll all have to wait another week to find out if Sara passed that first anatomy exam because the scores aren't out yet.
Thanks so much for listening. It means a lot.

Episode 16 was a bit subdued, but not Episode 17! Sara came straight from her first anatomy exam (Probably the most anticipated exam of Vet School other than National Boards), to recording this week's episode. It is so great to hear Sara on such a high from getting that test into her rear-view mirror.
Enjoy! Thanks for listening!

Gary finds a corner of the floor in the basement at a hotel conference center outside of Chicago to capture his portion of the audio... and his body regrets that choice. Regardless, Sara and Gary discuss what superpowers they would request if given the opportunity, and have a good conversation about Sara's recent Physiology exam, and upcoming Anatomy exam, and what Gary learns, and who he meets, in Washington DC for his AVMA Board of Directors meeting, and in Chicago for the SAVMA Chapter President's Summit.
Enjoy. And Thanks for listening.

Even though we struggled to find a time to record this, and didn't have a plan going about what we wanted to talk about, we ended up covering quite a bit of ground and discussing some interesting (and embarrassing for Sara) stuff. We answer "fan mail", get in the mood for fall, discuss what we should call our small contingent of loyal listeners, learn GenZ email etiquette, get a check up on Sara's level of panic 3 weeks in to her first semester of vet school and more.

Dr. Molly Brinkmann (@DrMollySays) is such a treasure. We loved having some time with her to talk about... stuff. In this Part 2 of our conversation, we venture into where she thought she would end up while she was in vet school, and how she got to where she is today. We cover career trajectory and family and a few other things.
We also catch up with Sara after her first week of vet school to have her share her early thoughts on the hours spent in anatomy, what clubs and electives she's considering, and the most pressing concern of how to get the best seat in class!

We talk about a lot of things, but there's so much more we want to cover. This one is split into 2 parts, and we think we'll eventually need parts 3 and 4 and...
We also learn everything we ever wanted to know about Sara's emotional support stick.
Thanks for listening.

Sara and Gary are Together at Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine during Sara's Vet School Orientation week. This episode is a bit different. The week was hectic for both Sara and Gary. Sara was swamped with orientation events on and off campus and had family in town. Gary was visiting friends (a classmate and her husband), spent time with faculty and administrators as well as with vet students from other years, and had duties to perform during orientation and at Sara's White Coat Ceremony. It was tricky to find time together. We were able to squeeze in a short recording session, and we're including a recording of the talk Gary gave to the class of 2028. Enjoy. Thanks so much for listening.

If you missed Part 1, press pause and listen to Episode 10 first. In this episode, Dr. Katie Kuehl and Dr. Radha Ganesan, along with Gary and Sara, have a very important conversation about things we can do to help provide more veterinary care to more clients, even when they have financial, and other access to care constraints. Do not miss this episode. It just might coax you to shift the way you've been thinking about things like "gold standard", responsible pet ownership, and creative financing options to help us say "Yes" to those in need more often.

Get to know Dr. Katie Kuehl and Dr. Radha Ganesan. It's worth a listen. Our mission was to venture into the huge topic of Veterinary Access to Care, and how we can utilize it today. Sara, Gary and our guests barely scratch the surface during Part 1. Make sure and follow us to get alerted when Part 2 drops next week.

Gary and Sara share about their separate camping getaways, and then mostly talk about the structure of organized veterinary medicine and Gary's involvement in state and national veterinary medical associations. This may not be your jam, but it's good to learn new things. Maybe you're into crocheting or competitive cornhole! We're not into stuff like that, but would be happy to listen and learn more about your passions. If you choose to listen to this epsisode, thank you. We'd love your feedback.
