Welcome to another regular episode of It Might Get Weird with Sara Rae and Dr. Gary Marshall. As promised, episode 22 (the True Crime edition) was a Halloween special and we don't plan on doing that again!
In this episode, the tables are turned from episode 21, and this time Sara interviews Gary. She dug in and unearthed what may be the pivotal childhood moment that opened Gary's eyes to veterinary medicine. Enjoy. Thanks for listening?

Warning: Don't listen if you're triggered by stories of murder. Maybe don't listen while you're in a taxi or a ride share or if you've just gotten into a car with a random stranger. Maybe just don't hitchhike and get into cars with random stranger's anyway.
Otherwise, wait until all the trick-or-treaters are done for the night, turn out the lights, light some candles, and curl up on the couch and listen to this very true, very much crime related story about an inventor of a very common companion animal surgical instrument (that you will never forget the name of after this).

Thanks in advance for listening. It's hard to believe there are 20 episodes published so far. With that in mind, it seems like a good time to get to know the co-hosts a little better. In this episode, Gary interviews Sara and goes way back to early childhood. Everyone has a unique and important story to tell. The more we learn about each other, the more effectively and strategically we can help each other achieve our goals.
Next week Sara will interview Gary for episode 22.
The podcast would still appreciate a sponsor stepping forward.

If you have managed to follow along all the way through 20 episodes, you get a Gold Star!! Thank you so much. When you first start listening, Gary and Sara are really dragging. Hang in there they both perk up, and Sara becomes downright giddy by the end! That's the power of connecting and talking together with friends.
Sara gets a bit vulnerable about an unexpected funk she is going through at this point in her first semester. Gary shares his Rabies Post Exposure experience that he didn't get around to last week. Then just like that, you've wasted another 30 minutes of your life.
Thanks for listening.

Sara and Gary are actually in the same location to record this! The beautiful campus of Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. There's a lot of really great info in this episode. There's also some stuff you probably could have done without.
Thanks for listening. We really appreciate all the weirdos that follow along each week.

Thanks for coming back for more. We actually talk about veterinary medicine and science things during this episode. Sara is in her car and Gary is in another hotel to record this episode where we recap Sara's shelter club clinic experience, and Gary goes over an puzzling post-spay "complications" case. We'll all have to wait another week to find out if Sara passed that first anatomy exam because the scores aren't out yet.
Thanks so much for listening. It means a lot.

Episode 16 was a bit subdued, but not Episode 17! Sara came straight from her first anatomy exam (Probably the most anticipated exam of Vet School other than National Boards), to recording this week's episode. It is so great to hear Sara on such a high from getting that test into her rear-view mirror.
Enjoy! Thanks for listening!

Gary finds a corner of the floor in the basement at a hotel conference center outside of Chicago to capture his portion of the audio... and his body regrets that choice. Regardless, Sara and Gary discuss what superpowers they would request if given the opportunity, and have a good conversation about Sara's recent Physiology exam, and upcoming Anatomy exam, and what Gary learns, and who he meets, in Washington DC for his AVMA Board of Directors meeting, and in Chicago for the SAVMA Chapter President's Summit.
Enjoy. And Thanks for listening.

Even though we struggled to find a time to record this, and didn't have a plan going about what we wanted to talk about, we ended up covering quite a bit of ground and discussing some interesting (and embarrassing for Sara) stuff. We answer "fan mail", get in the mood for fall, discuss what we should call our small contingent of loyal listeners, learn GenZ email etiquette, get a check up on Sara's level of panic 3 weeks in to her first semester of vet school and more.
