After breaking his leg, he had to switch from the top bunk to the bottom.

That’s when it happened.

One night, he woke up and saw something at the edge of his bed—a dark figure shaped like a child, leaning forward with its head resting in its hands, just watching him.

At first, he thought it would disappear if he looked away. But it didn’t. No matter what he did—closing his eyes, turning over—it was still there.

And eventually, he did the only thing he could think to do. He went back to sleep… with it still watching him.
