Taking it back to March 2018. The month Ollie was born. 

Also the month Oscar decides to leave his corporate job and start his own Digital Marketing Business.

This kickstarted us trying and failing in our careers and ultimately finding success through our failures.

"With every seed of failure comes an equivalent seed of success".

A thought occurred to us after our son passed away.

Maybe all the failure we had endured and all of the adversity we faced actually prepared us to be better handle his passing.

There are some things that we learned through our journey of failing in business that actually did help us when healing from his loss.

In the 6 years Oscar and I have been together, we've gone through some real adversity as a couple.

We got pregnant 9 months after dating.

We left our corporate jobs and became entrepreneurs while navigating life with a newborn.

We lost all of our clients in our business and went "broke" for a period of time.

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and had poor quality of life until I healed.

But, there was nothing that would shake our relationship more than losing our world, our 2 year old baby boy.

It starts in Cartagena Colombia.

A woman, operating in a notebook factory in La Matuna, wanting to get closer to her dreams, set course for New York.

A daughter, operating in a factory of dreams, pencil and paper lover, found in the land of her roots a lack in style and design of the notebooks.

This story is cyclical, beginning with a Colombian immigrant in New York starting her journey toward her dream in a notebook factory in Cartagena and now her daughter, has returned to Colombia, to sell her own brand of notebooks to give its users a space where they can enjoy the time between thinking and pen and paper.

On today’s episode I’m sharing the story of Rebecca Liloy who followed her passion of journaling and created Laurel. Laurel is a notebook company in Medellin, Colombia that offers simple, modern and high-quality notebooks. It is a brand that seeks to create cultural connections through its paper products.

Her notebooks are now available across Medellin and will soon be branching out to Bogota.

In this episode we discuss the power of journaling and the biggest benefit that she’s found from it.

On today's episode of the It Takes Guts Podcast join me as I have a conversation with my partner Oscar Guerrero about embracing and rebounding from failure.  As part of our society we've been conditioned to see failure as something negative, so much so that too many people are paralyzed from taking action and going after what they really want because they have a strong "fear of failure". I know I spent the majority of my life never doing anything that wasn't "safe" because I was terrified at trying and failing, I was constantly chasing perfection. On our entrepreneurial journeys Oscar and I both have experienced failure and the depressive emotions that resulted from them. In this episode we share our own personal stories of failure, the consequent funks that we fell into and how we've been able to rebound from them. 

Successful people will fail often, and will rebound quickly from their failures.
