This week the 14850 Dining Report is checking out Ten Forward Cafe! Downtown Ithaca’s new vegan cafe is run by Tammie Olsefski, also the owner of the Star Truck.

Meal kit services that ship a box to your door with all the ingredients you need to cook your own meal are all the rage, and this week we’re trying out Green Fork — a local meal kit with produce and meats from Central New York farms.

This week, we share the news that Hal’s Deli will close this spring after 56 years in Downtown Ithaca. The eatery on Restaurant Row has offered inexpensive breakfasts and overstuffed sandwiches to countless generations of students and locals.

Western New York has known the joys of a DiBella’s sandwich for almost a century, and now that Ithaca has its very own DiBella’s Submarines, we can enjoy those great sandwiches right here. The family business that started in Rochester is now on Route 13 in Ithaca’s southwest.

This week we’re at Due Amici Ristorante on the Ithaca Commons. This friendly new pizzeria with carry-out service, delivery, and tables to dine in, also offers Italian and middle eastern dishes with a Moroccan flair.

This week, we’re back at Mix Social Dining in Ithaca’s southwest. We first wrote last February about this new spot where Lucatelli’s closed three years ago, and Mix, which opened in August, offers a sharable, social approach to its menu.

This week, 14850 Dining is checking out Cornell University’s newly certified gluten-free dining room at Risley Hall. Cornell is hosting a grand reopening at Risley Dining this Thursday night.

This week, we’re celebrating Taco Tuesday at the Bickering Twins pop-up dinners at the Lincoln Street Diner. They first tried it last August, then went weekly in September, and now they’ve added Thursday and Saturday taco nights at the Carriage House Café.

This week we’re back in Ithaca’s west end visiting The Rook. Open just over a year, the Rook has “new American” bistro fare and excellent cocktails five days a week.

This week, we’re back on Ithaca’s northside checking out ZaZa’s Cucina. It’s an upscale yet friendly Italian bistro riesrving farm-fresh food seven nights a week, and the business changed hands a little over a year ago.
