This week, 14850 Dining is dining on the patio at Monks on the Commons. The southern-inspired restaurant in the Ithaca Marriott opened their patio for Cinco de Mayo, and they’ve been offering patio service when the weather allows, with frequent BBQs and music since then.

This week, 14850 Dining is looking forward to experiencing some of the fine food and drink produced in the Finger Lakes at this Sunday’s Experience the Finger Lakes Culinary Festival! It’s a chance to explore lots of regional producers without leaving Downtown Ithaca.

There’s a new Downtown location of Luna Inspired Street Food! This week the 14850 Dining Report finds Luna’s familiar menu of pizza, tacos, sandwiches, bowls, and other street fare, but with several new items that debut for summer.

There were 76 entries and four finalists, and this week 14850 Dining can tell you who won the Hunger Hero sandwich competition. Collegetown Bagels hosted a tasting event and will be selling the sandwich to benefit the United Way of Tompkins County.

This week, the 14850 Dining Report is paying a visit to Bandwagon, Downtown Ithaca’s downstairs pub, now open seven days a week.

Bandwagon uses a huge array of local produce and meats, offering fresh preparations of seasonal food, whether it’s brussels sprouts or an amazing ramp pesto that you’ve got to enjoy before it’s gone until next year.

This week, we’re trying some Carriage House Cafe favorites — at home! This great cafe on Stewart Avenue lets you bring home their coffee, their granola, and now their scones in a mix you can bake yourself.

Cookies are a sometimes food, and this week, 14850 Dining has a look at Ithaca’s sometimes food — pop-up dinners, food trucks, and more that aren’t full-time eateries, but they’re worth a visit.

The tenth CoreLife Eatery is now open in Ithaca, and the 14850 Dining Report is checking out their healthy build-your-own bowl-focused food concept.

There are three basic bowls at CoreLife — the green bowls, the grain bowls, and the broth bowls — but calling the offerings “soups and salads and noodle bowls” doesn’t quite do it; the possible variations are endless and hearty.

Passover starts this Monday at sundown, and the 14850 Dining Report is taking a look at the food traditions surrounding this springtime holiday. Straight out of the Bible’s Book of Exodus, the Passover story is about the Jewish people’s departure from slavery in Egypt, and the holiday is full of traditions that recall aspects of that story.

This spring is the last chance to visit Hal’s Deliin downtown Ithaca for their Passover style menu, including matzah ball soup, salads, and omelets with matzah on the side instead of toast. It’s not a strictly Kosher eatery, but it’s Passover-friendly. Hal’s is closing in late May.

Wings Over Ithaca is back, and this week the 14850 Dining Report is checking out its new Collegetown location. The east hill wingery closed last fall after the franchise owner was charged with 26 counts of tax evasion, and the new location is a brand new franchise with different ownership.
