The FLX Underground Summer Jam is all afternoon and evening at Lucky Hare Brewing in Hector, partnering with Ithaca Underground.

Cast Iron Cowboys are playing at 7:30 tomorrow at Sacred Root Kava Lounge.

Chris LeFever is at the Downstairs at 6pm Sunday.

The Friends of the Ithaca Farmers Market have lined up a dual event for Thursday night, August 17th to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ithaca Farmers Market, which kicked off its 50th year this spring. The shindig at the farmers market pavilion at Steamboat Landing on the shore of Cayuga Lake features a happy hour from 5:30-7pm followed by a main event from 7-10pm, with food, drinks, and music all evening.

Lots of live music this evening starts with Kip & Richy on their annual summer tour, kicking off at 5:30 at Aurora Brewing. Not from Wisconsin plays the Farm Jam at the Finger Lakes Cider House at 6, Virgil Cain is on the deck at the BoatYard Grill at 6, and Judy Collins is at the Smith Opera House in Geneva!

For your Saturday, the Eagles Club hosts a chicken BBQ to support Dryden Purple Storm Summer Softball from noon until they sell out. Treleaven Wines has their Dog Days of Summer Beer Festival starting at 2, with a buck from each pint of local beer going to local Tompkins and Cayuga County SPCAs. 

Kip and Richy are at Liquid State Brewing North Shore in Romulus starting at 4, then back in Ithaca at the Ithaca Beer Collegetown Taproom at 10pm. Ariel Arbisser plays the Village Swing series at the Downstairs. And the annual Racker Rivals Big Red charity hockey game is at Lynah Rink starting at 6:30.

Sunday, the GrassRoots Culture Camp kicks off its four-day pre-festival event with music and food, Kip and Richy are at Lansing Harbor starting at 4, and Deep Dive is hosting a free livestream of the grand finale of the Dead & Company final tour live from Oracle Park in San Francisco, starting at 10pm.

Next Tuesday, Rachel Beverly plays Music in the Hollow at Ellis Hollow Community Center and Bronwen Exter is at Argos Warehouse, and of course the 31st annual GrassRoots Festival starts Thursday at the Trumansburg Fairgrounds.

Here's the Ithaca Minute from 14850 Today for July 10th.

The Ellis Hollow Community Center launched a summer of live outdoor music with the Notorious String Busters at their Chicken BBQ fundraiser on June 27th, and this year’s Music in the Hollow free concert series begins this Tuesday as the Pelotones hit the stage.

Music in the Hollow takes place around the pavilion at the Ellis Hollow Community Center, with plenty of lawn space for an audience, and with a large parking area along Genung Road. Many attendees bring blankets or lawn chairs, and many bring a picnic, though there’s usually food available for sale as well.

The lineup includes the Pelotones, Rachel Beverly, Joe Crookston, Freight, the Smokin' Loons, Jenny Stockdale, and scheduled for Jerry Garcia's birthday, Terrapin Station. The free shows are Tuesdays at 6 at the Ellis Hollow Community Center on Genung Road, east of Ithaca.

First Friday Gallery Night starts at 5pm with art shows and receptions around downtown Ithaca and beyond.

Live music this evening starts with a Go Gone Happy Hour at Deep Dive, Music on the Deck with City Limits at BoatYard Grill, Farm Jam with Betty's Ghost at Finger Lakes Cider House, and a free Gratefully Yours Grateful Dead tribute show on the Cornell Arts Quad. The Spells with Rye Makepeace are at Deep Dive later tonight.

For your Saturday, the Ithaca Children's Garden is celebrating International Mud Day starting at 10am! Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Ithaca Eagles are hosting a chicken BBQ for the Newfield Boy Scouts from 12-2. Andrew Alling is playing at Chateau Dusseau at 3. Village Swing with Alice Santonstall at 7 at the Downstairs, and Motherwort and more at Deep Dive on Saturday at 9.

On Sunday, Kegs and Eggs brunch at Hopshire Farm, and Animal Encounters at Cayuga Nature Center.

Next Tuesday the summer-long Music in the Hollow series kicks off at the Ellis Hollow Community Center with the Pelotones. Live music every Tuesday starting at 6 with food trucks and more just east of Ithaca.

Juneteenth National Independence Day became a federal holiday in 2021, and it’s observed as a holiday by Tompkins County, Ithaca College, and Cornell University. Juneteenth commemorates word of the Emancipation Proclamation reaching Galveston on June 19th, 1865, along with an order informing the people of Texas that all slaves were free.

It's Ithaca Festival weekend, with live music today, tomorrow, and Sunday on and around the Ithaca Commons! Three stages, the Bernie Milton Pavilion, Cayuga Street Circle, and Dewitt Park. Community Arts Partnership has their June art exhibit opening at the CAP ArtSpace, Present Conversations, an indigenous and people of color art show, with an event 5-9 tonight.

More live music elsewhere, Go Gone happy hour at Deep Dive and Freight playing at Hopshire, plus family Friday night roller skating at Cass Park from 5:30-7.

On Saturday the Trumansburg May Day 5K starts at 10am! 

Comedy featuring Kevin Farley at LakeWatch Inn with special guests Jacob Morrison and Mike Brindisi. 

An art opening for Synesthesia: The Color of Sound at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts. More standup comedy, Dario Joseph at Deep Dive plus Sean Day, Sarah Benson, and Gabby Garcia. And Buck Fest has the 86ers, Drew Kiddoo and the Blackouts, and Cast Iron Cowboys at Forest City Lodge.

Sunday at 6 there's a Latin Party at Salt Point Brewing. And there's waffles and trivia every Sunday night at 6 at Modern Alchemy Game Bar.

Here's the Ithaca Minute for May 31st.

Thomas P. Rath, a 33-year-old Ithaca resident, was last seen in the natural area behind Lowes, one of the encampment areas known as “the Jungle” in Ithaca’s southwest, on or about May 17th, according to the Ithaca Police Department. “The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are suspicious in nature and law enforcement is concerned for his safety,” says IPD Sergeant Kevin Slattery.

A former Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputy was sentenced in Ithaca City Court, two months after he was convicted of the crime of perjury, after years on administrative leave. Zachary D. Starner was convicted of a misdemeanor, “punishable by up to 364 days in jail” said the DA’s office. “Judge Wallace imposed a sentence of sixty (60) days in jail followed by three years of probation supervision.”

Ithaca Carshare, which offers on-demand access to cars throughout the Ithaca area for those who need a car once in a while but don’t want the expense and overhead of maintaining their own cars, paused its operations in mid May as insurance coverage needs collided with New York State regulations. They’re now asking community members to call their legislators this week to urge a solution.

And the Ithaca Festival is the unofficial start of summertime, and the festival kicks off Thursday evening with the annual Ithaca Festival Parade, a showcase of community talent and organizations parading from Fall Creek to the Ithaca Commons. The parade heads south down Cayuga Street from Lewis Street at 6pm and the festivities continue with a performance by the Comb Down at the Bernie Milton Pavilion, starting about 7:30pm.

It's Memorial Day Weekend, and this afternoon in Newfield volunteers will be placing flags at the graves of fallen service members at Woodlawn Cemetery and then Trumbulls Corners Cemetery. There's a 10am ceremony on Monday at Woodlawn.

Cass Park is hosting its Family Friday roller skate night starting at 5:30.

Some live music this evening includes the Tarps playing at Hopshire Farms, Pierce Walsh and the Makers at Finger Lakes Cider House, and Destination After Dark at Treleaven Wines, all starting at 6, and team 607 has a GLOW event at Deep Dive tonight.

Cayuga Shoreline in Interlaken has a summer kick-off weekend noon to sunset this Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with DJs and food trucks all weekend, plus live music with NEO Project on Saturday night.

Strong Maybe is playing Saturday at the Downstairs and Metasequoia is at the Range. 

Of course it's also Cornell Commencement weekend, so expect lots of traffic on east hill and around town.
