Sylvia Jefferies used to do pretend commercials and sing songs from The Muppet Show and Fame to her stuffed animals before she risked it all and moved to New York City to audition for The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. When she completed her time there, having odd jobs that gave her insurance and 800number so that she could call her Mama, she left and began her carnie life moving where the acting jobs were.
From New York to New Orleans and to Los Angeles, where she met a baby with no eyebrows(Bailey), and the Mama of the baby with no eyebrows (Brook), at a beautiful Latin lady’s pool party, her instincts have never failed her. Sylvia is most known for roles where she doesn’t get to brush her hair and is ‘“less than socially acceptable” like Tracy on HBO’s Eastbound and Down, Jolene on ABC’s Nashville, the Once Beautiful Woman in the feature film, Shaft, Rob Zombie’s bloody victims Misty Dawn in Halloween 2 and Heather Starship Galen in Three From Hell, and other roles that her very southern mother wishes she could let her old lady friends watch. Aside from the few Hallmark Christmas movies where she actually had her hair brushed, Sylvia gets to wear clothes AND makeup in her new project, The Game, which she is currently filming in Atlanta.
Ken Takemoto is a native of Hawaii, born in Haleiwa on August 18, 1934. He spent his childhood in Kaka‘ako and his teenage and college years in Kapahulu. He went to Washington Jr. High and McKinley High School (Class of 1952). He graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1957 and went on to UCLA in Los Angeles to get teaching credentials in art. He started teaching in 1960 and retired in 1996 after 35 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
While still a teacher at the 32nd Street/USC Performing Arts Magnet School, he got his first acting job on a Stevie Wonder music video when one of the school teacher’s wife was looking for an older Asian man. He went on to take a summer acting workshop at East West Players in 1989 out of curiosity and was asked to do props. He continued with it until he retired the same year as Tim Dang. He also did costume design and appeared on stage in four productions. When EWP produced Twelfth Night, he did props, costumes and acted in it as well. During that time, he got agents to represent him in some commercials, print, TV and film.

“Da Braddahs” local comedy is a celebration and culmination of our proud island culture. How? “Jus’ buckaloose!” Da Braddahs is Tony Silva & James Roache, an ‘ohana-favorite household name. With 24 years as local entertainers, they continue to bring our island community and ‘ohana together for a grand variety of events- baby luau, birthdays, graduations, corporate events, concerts, prison talks, school assemblies, PSAs, funerals… and so much more! Da Braddahs also partner with the Compass Foundation & Manoa Theatre sharing their talent with Hawaii’s youth via mentoring and education. Their donated time is always dedicated to at-risk youth. They are also excited to offer hands-on, interactive workshops such as acting, writing & storyboarding, cameras & lighting, hair & makeup, and editing & scoring music. At the end of the day, more money and fuller fame are, for them, fast-fading. Instead, their utmost hope is to uplift our next generation and our world with greater Aloha Spirit as well as deeper understanding and practice of the cultural traditions of our Hawaiian people.
