What’s next? Not to be confused with what’s your new year's resolution, but what’s next for you in this season as a solo? 

That’s a question that deserves some dedicated time to think about. 

Being a single mom or dad, flying solo as a parent may be for many seasons. For some, it may be a few. But what you do during this season, if you tend to your garden mind you, you will reap a bountiful harvest for both you and your kiddo's future.

Think of "what’s next" as a plan for the unexpected and unknown, but also a plan for the garden you want to grow. This a new season and it is your season!!!! There’s no spouse to think about.

So I have a question to ask you

If you, could be a kid again this Christmas, what would you do?

• Would you unwrap the day differently? 
• Would you sing more fa la la’s? 
• Would you eat more cookies?
• Where is your PJ’s all day (oh wait, some of ya’ll still do that)
• Would you leave some hairs out of place?
• Worry less and play more?
• Would you choose joy over jolly?

Listen, this season is certainly full of jolly, you hear it in all the songs, read it in the cards, and watch it in your favorite Christmas movies and there is nothing wrong with jolly except that it’s seasonal. It comes once a year and melts as fast as the snow on a sunny day.

Joy is for all seasons and our devotional thought as we close out another year.

Kids want to unwrap waaaay more than just traditional baby dolls, toy cars, or trains this Christmas.

Am I right?

So what about you? 

That’s right you!!! What do you want to unwrap this Christmas?  

Do you think it’s silly or selfish to think of yourself cuz, what, you are supposed to be playing elf? 

Do you think as a solo parent by way of a divorce, that you got what you deserve this Christmas? Heartache, hurt, loneliness, or even debt that you can’t pay back.

Are you hoping for some help, peace, or relief and you think you shouldn’t ask for it? 

Or maybe you got this, you don’t need anyone, and you don’t want to unwrap anything someone has to give you.

But what about a gift of grace that's prepared and prepaid just for you available not just this Christmas season, but in your solo season?

Ready or not, here come the holidays!!!! Or as I like to say, the holiDAZE. 

Four weeks of school functions, holiday parties, Christmas musicals, tree lightings, baking, decorating, shopping, wrapping, menu prep, AND your kiddos “must haves”. Four weeks of complete chaos, 28 days you don’t get back, and one major holidaze.

The holidays can create a set of unique anxieties and inner conflicts that are as common as Christmas carols in this season and a reason why many single parent experience what I call, holiDAZE.

they have to live between the two.
Between the two of you!

Each their own monarch and for their own country. And if these two countries are always at war, there is no peace for YOUR little international travelers.
