In 1963, when he was six years old on Halloween night, he came home early after a night of trick or treating and took a chef knife from a drawer, put on a clown mask, sneaked upstairs, and brutally and mercilessly killed his older sister, Judith, after she had sex with her boyfriend, stabbing her seventeen times until she bled out. His parents caught him and he was sent to Smith's Grove Sanitarium until he was at the age of twenty-one for an adult trial. His psychiatrist, Dr. Samuel Loomis, spent eight years trying to reach him and understand his psyche and find out why he did such a horrible act but Michael had refused to say a word since that night and always showed no emotion of any kind. By the time he was fourteen, Loomis came to the stunning conclusion that he had to be the human embodiment of pure evil and had no actual motive in his homicidal actions and simply wanted to destroy peace. Thus, he spent seven more years trying to keep him locked away.

On the afternoon of August 18, 1973, five young people in a Volkswagen van ran out of gas on a farm road in South Texas. Four of them were never seen again. The next morning the one survivor, Sally Hardesty, was picked up on a roadside, blood-caked and screaming murder. Sally said she had broken out of a window in Hell. Famed novelist Paul Sheldon is the author of a successful series of Victorian romance novels featuring a character named Misery Chastain. Wanting to focus on more serious stories, he writes a manuscript for a new novel that he hopes will launch his post-Misery career. While traveling from Silver Creek, Colorado, to his home in New York City, Paul is caught in a blizzard and crashes his car, rendering him unconscious. A nurse named Annie Wilkes finds him and brings him to her remote home.

While there he realises that his gaurdian angel is actually a dragon lady and he was stuck deep in her den, with no way out!!!

This week we ditch slashers for cults as we look into the Wicker Man Cult of Summerisle.

But before that we talk about launch week and the anxiety attached.

Sergeant Neil Howie journeys by seaplane to the remote Hebridean island of Summerisle to investigate the disappearance of a young girl, Rowan Morrison, about whom he has received an anonymous letter. Howie, a devout Christian, is disturbed to find the Islanders paying homage to the pagan Celtic gods of their ancestors. They copulate openly in the fields, include children as part of the May Day celebrations, teach children of the phallic association of the maypole, and place toads in their mouths to cure sore throats. The islanders appear to be trying to thwart his investigation by claiming that Rowan never existed.

Now this may seem like a group of people doing their best to cover up a suspected suspicious death, but it would soon become apparent that their attempts to frustrate and mislead Sergeant Howie held ulterior ritualistic motives.

When music-hall star Elizabeth Cree is accused of poisoning her husband, John, on the same night as the last Golem murder, Inspector John Kildare discovers evidence linking John Cree to the murders and wants to solve the cases before Elizabeth is hanged.
