It's Always Halloween

Happy Halloween Day Lanterns!

I'm back on the porch and ready to handout full size treats! I can't believe the veil is already gossimer thin (wasn't it just January?!), but I'm thrilled to spend our special day together!

Today you'll hear beautiful memories of loved ones who have passed, take a lil trip through the historic stomping grounds of The Headless Horseman, learn how to explode pumpkins (in a scientific manner), and much much more!

Thank you to today's contributers: Teresa, José, Lana, Andrew, Jon, Monty, and more!

We all scream because we're having a hard time! On this week's episode we explore grief through memorializing loved ones from ice cream rituals, to Northern Lights sightings, to poetry, to ancestral research. We keep those we've lost alive with storytelling and memory swapping.

If you would like to be a part of our series on grief, please write or call in with personal stories, memories, and/or ideas relating to memorializing loved ones after they pass, rituals for honoring the dead, Halloween as a conduit for connecting with those you’ve lost, and how Halloween or a general interest in darker topics has helped you process difficult times.

You can reach the All Hallows Hotline at 802-532-DEAD or write an eeeekmail to [email protected]. And as always we continue to welcome any and all personal Halloween history stories, recommendations, creative ideas, art, or questions.

Merry Christmas, Lanterns! Here's a traditional Victorian ghost story for you to enjoy today in front of a fire with the family in the grand 19th century holiday tradition. Written anonymously, it was first published in the Lincolnshire Echo on December 19th, 1895.
