Hello Seattle Mariners fans!

This week the gang Mikey, Evan and Anders are back to answer listener questions on the big new rule changes and how they might affect the Mariners. First off the gang digs deep into the Mariners two young, star pitchers: George Kirby and Logan Gilbert. Both have had encouraging starts as of late, but they are trending very differently despite similar effective results. What do we make of it all and whom do we believe in? We have the answers. Next the gang looks at the new ruleset that might be going into practice which includes the pitch clock, some moderate restrictions on the shift, bigger bases and the minor league players union being newly represented by the MLBPA. How will all of this work out? That remains to be seen, but the gang has some unique insights on how this might affect the Mariners and the league at large. Lastly the gang look at Julio’s declining stolen bases and Mitch Haniger’s late season swoon.

This week the gang Mikey and Anders are joined by MLB writer and special guest Pat Ellington Jr. Pat provides his unique perspective on writing about baseball and the proud history of black ballplayers in Cleveland. Anders notes that the Guardians have the youngest roster in the league, even younger than the Mariners and Pat detail on some of their young prospects on the rise. Pat brings a fresh position on what it looks like the Mariners are building from the outside and how impressive the pitching development is in particular. Mikey is surprised to learn that the Guardians have merely 2 players over age 30, giving Cleveland tremendous upside for the future. Anders recounts meeting Steven Kwan and admires his humility on and off the field. This week the gang Mikey, Anders and Evan are back to business! The big news of the week is of course the massive new contract for Julio Rodriguez that ensures he will be a Mariner for years to come. The biggest deal since Cano signed in Seattle, Julio is cemented as the cornerstone of the franchise moving forward. The gang also takes a hard look at Logan Gilbert, trying to make sense of his up and now trending down season. Mikey dishes on the bullpen and ranks his level of faith in our all-around stellar group of relief arms. Anders and Mikey assess Chris Flexen in the pen and wonder if he should be taking Marco’s spot. Lastly, the gang looks at a pair of arms on different trajectories: Matt Brash and Penn Murfee. This week the gang @_kuyamikey and @evanjamesaudio talk deals at the 2022 MLB trade deadline. Trader Jerry worked the hot stove to the bone to deliver the Mariners 3 new pieces on the final day: a backup catcher in Curt Casali, a bench righty bat in Jake Lamb and a potential relief weapon in Matt Boyd. Mikey sees potential in Boyd out of the pen while Evan worries about Jarred 3.0, but everyone agrees getting Curt Casali was a needed move. In answering fan questions, the gang is excited for the future, while wondering if what the mariners have done will be enough to deliver them playoff victory. Get well soon Ders!

Thirteen wins in a row. This week the gang talks the Mariners surging playoff odds and how this newfound competitive positioning may lead to additions at the deadline. Anders recounts his visit to Nationals Park as he got to watch our beloved Ners sweep the Nationals in a two game series. Mikey checks in with podcast protagonist Robbie Ray on his ever evolving pitch mix. The gang ponders a future with Soto or Ohtani in the northwest, but returns to reality to check in on a newly 23 year old prospect of our own, yet to take flight. Lastly, the team looks at some listener questions about the pitching staff: how will the rotation shake out long term, and has Andrés Muñoz become the Mariners new high leverage weapon?
