The gang kicks off episode 47 talking about the brightest of bright spots in Seattle: Julio Rodriguez, who continues to develop and take the league by storm. Batting nearly .320 over the last month, he has been the biggest development of the young season, and his continued success is a reason to be optimistic about the future. Elsewhere across the team the outlook is less stellar. The Mariners loss today brings them to 8 games under .500, and starting down an urgency to win now and get their season back on track that few expected so early. But as one dream dies (playoffs), another rises to take its place, and the conversation has begun to shift from looking at the current team to assessing the future.

Matt Brash has been sent down to Tacoma to refine his wizard pitch for the bullpen, but in his stead, Mariners top pitching prospect George Kirby has been summoned, and the gang couldn't be more excited to see the young star. The gang digs in to the Mariners confusingly ranked pitching staff in the early season, and tries to see a brighter future ahead for Robbie Ray in particular. The gang talks the dead ball, and just how detrimental it has been to the Mariners and their deep fly balls in the first quarter of the season. Lastly, the gang looks at Mikey's latest FiveThirtyEight banger on Kevin Gausman.

There is much to discuss like the miniscule ERA for Logan Gilbert, one of Mikey’s pre-season picks to breakout. There is some mild concern about Robbie Ray’s vanishing strikeouts, and a great deal of fascination with wonder kid Matt Brash. Lastly the gang looks at the bullpen, and wonders just how good they can possibly be, if they can get everybody healthy and up to speed.

We apologize for the delay, it has been a busy couple week for the gang, but we are back in business and ready to talk offense! The Mariners are super hot fire, sporting the best offense in the majors. Yes indeed, the Mariners lead the league in wRC+, BB% and offensive WAR over the first couple weeks. The sample size may be small, our enthusiasm is growing by the hour. Is the offense for real? Is 2019 Tom Murphy back? Is Julio improving steadily at the plate? Does Jarred look improved in the field? Is this the most fun Mariners team in twenty years? We answer all these questions, and take a deep dive into two Mariners off to blazing starts (JP and Ty France) and two youngsters finding their footing (Julio and Jarred). All of that was just the start of the excitement though, as baseball moved swiftly to reignite the hot stove and Jerry was there as always, ready to pounce.
