It wasn't until Gary Almy was 22 years old that he came to Christ. He happened to be staying up late one evening and heard a preacher on a Gospel radio station and decided to pray for someone his age to show up in his life to speak about The Good News of Jesus Christ.

The next day while working the drive-thru at a bank, a pastor, just a few months older than Gary, was waiting. Since that day ~43 years ago, Dr. Gary Almy has placed Jesus at the center of his life. And as a strong, principled, Christian man, he firmly believes that men need to show up in the world by showing "strength under control" and "strong in conviction."

Today, he imparts his wisdom on the accounting students he teaches at Grand Canyon University while trying to look more like Christ in every interaction, which is certainly something for which we should all strive.

I completely flaked on our first scheduled call together and Darnell Spruill showed grace.

Having met in the Summer of 2022 during a professional networking event on LinkedIn, Darnell saw something in me that he wanted to pursue. After rescheduling, he and I have become fast friends and he is one of the kindest, most genuine men I've ever met. His wisdom and insights are palpable, especially related to growing up in a strict, military, Christian family in addition to being one of very few persons of color in the finance world (this has to change!).

"Live to Your Truth" is advice he would give his son, if he was blessed to have a son someday, in order to pushback against the prevailing narrative that is anti-masculine and anti-Christ. Darnell is brilliant in his messaging and confident in his love for the Lord. He is my brother and my friend.

Dr. Michael Williams didn't grow up in a Christian home. Despite that fact, he developed an uncompromising work ethic that prepared him for military service and, later, a long, esteemed career in development services for the City of Tempe (Arizona) and the Town of Queen Creek (Arizona).

It wasn't until his wife of 51 years attended a Bible study session with a friend when their children were school age did Michael finds Jesus, but it wasn't automatic. In fact, Michael attended the Bible study sessions fully intent on disproving the Word of God only to find that, not only could he not refute it, he fell in love with it and devoted the rest of his life to serving God. Steve McKiddy was living through a dark time. After a 12+ hour work day, he sat in his car and the Holy Spirit instructed him to give a homeless woman nearby all the money in his wallet. Steve didn't want to.

He was exhausted and all he wanted to do was get home to his wife of 19 years and his two sons. After the third time the Holy Spirit jabbed him to get up and go to the woman, he finally did. On two occasions, the homeless woman thankfully declined the money, but finally relented after Steve explained his motivation.

Upon accepting the money, the woman looked at Steve and said, "Can I pray over you?" Wow. It turns out, Steve needed prayer more than the homeless woman needed money. We never truly know how God will show up in our lives.

By any measurable standard, Sam Bradford is a success. He has a thriving career, a loving wife of 14 years, and a 20 month-old daughter on which to hang his hat.

His life, however, has never been a simple one, having endured years of physical, mental, and emotional abuse by his stepfather. Not only could he not understand the abuse, he couldn't grasp the idea that both his mother and stepfather were church leaders, with his stepfather serving as a church pastor.

As a result, Sam began using drugs and alcohol in 6th grade as a way to cope. Despite his difficulty reconciling the hypocrisy of his stepfather, Sam endured through the love of Christ. That sparked him to serve as a youth pastor for 12 years prior to his current role as Director of People Development for Dutch Bros. Arizona.
