Diets, exercise, scales, oh my! Edeliz brings back resident PO guest, Yasmeen to talk about a topic we all have an opinion on -- body image. Yasmeen dives into how living with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) has affected her relationship with her body. Body image affects a lot of us very early on, from dieting in grade school, shaving, getting weighed at the doctor, comments from family members, the way we look from the time we're kids is something we're always aware of. As we're getting through our 20s, we have to question where our body ideals come from and who is shaping that. So let's have our cake and eat it because cake is delicious.
What's that smell? Performative allyship, of course! (among other things) Zack Bryant comes on the pod to discuss his feelings about how people are just coming around to acknowledging the racial injustices in the country that have been going on for centuries. How he, as a Black person, is learning and growing in his allyship just like everyone else, and even though he's a little cynical, hopes change comes out of the protests around the country.

After a 2 month hiatus, It's Personal is back! For today's episode, we're talking about allyship, a buzzword these days. Edeliz brings on Aaron Ibañez to discuss Black Lives Matter, how being an ally is a daily practice, and the importance of being continually open to learning.
Michelle Branch said it right, "if I just breathe...let it fill the space between, I'll know everything is alright." A queen. Today's mini-episode is about remembering to be intentional about your day while in quarantine, although once this is over, it should still apply tbh. It's very easy to lose sight of yourself when you don't know what day or time it is and it's easy to just go through the motions and feel numb. This episode is about reminding you to come back to yourself and be present.
Khrannavirus has got us all. Today's mini-sode is about unemployment during a pandemic. We've tackled unemployment on It's Personal before, how alienating and overwhelming it can be, but this time it's different. On top of grieving our losses, we need to support each other during trying times, and set-backs like these are a reminder that we can only look ahead and be hopeful about the future.
Much like romantic breakups, friend breakups can be confusing, exhausting, and enraging. In this mini-episode, Edeliz shares her experience with a friend breakup and talks about the signs of a toxic friendship and why losing a friend is the worst. Keep social distancing and staying hydrated and healthy!

Looking beyond the "how's the weather?" small talk and learning to make the effort to truly connect. For this month's episode we talk about talking! What does it means to have an "intentional" conversation? Staying connected, with not just our friends and family, but the world around us, is difficult. Edeliz and guest, Lauren, talk about what making the effort to go out of your comfort zone and engage in emotionally necessary conversation with someone looks like. How do we make a conscious effort to connect to those around us?
Just in time for Valentine's Day, we wanted to talk about the least romantic side of finding L O V E - dating. And not just dating, dating for the first time in your 20s. Disney and Nickelodeon taught us that everyone dates in middle school. Well, what if you didn't date in middle school, or high school, or even college? Our guest, Paty, talks with us about how embracing her sexuality until the end of her senior year in college, left her feeling like she missed out on the "teen dating" experience. And how regaining confidence in her identity allowed her to push forward and start swiping right a little later in the game than most. But always remembering, the most important relationship is the one you have with yourself. Happy V-day ;)
TIME IS GOING BY -- In the first episode of 2020, Edeliz sits down with Jesus Acosta to talk about how the New Year makes us feel like we're not accomplishing enough and how consistent social media content plays a role in conflating our idea of success. They discuss why we feel like we have to accomplish everything and succeed and fulfill out dreams RIGHT NOW and how feeling like you're never doing enough ruins your ability to be in the present. There's lots of other things too but you're just gonna have to listen.
Hot, rich women on novelas, our families, the media all have a hand in our development and understanding of our gender as we grow up. From traditional gender roles in our households to thinking of "ambition" or "feminist" as a dirty word, the ways we are conditioned to see other women, more often than not, have a greater impact with how we view ourselves. In this month's episode Edeliz and guest, Evelyn Cantu, break down how internalized misogyny shaped their views on sexuality, womanhood, and cultural identity.
