  • Let's Talks About Money

Edeliz and guest Alexa Boone discuss their relationship with money and how it has changed since college. They break down why talking about money can be awk around friends, how they've learned to manage it, and what they've done to learn new habits.
We tend to feel like we're not where we're "supposed to be" for our age and this episode is about how we are all exactly where we need to be as we transition into adulthood.

  • No Hablo Español

This week we have our old friend Alyssa Saenz on the pod talking (and ranting) about what it's like to grow up near the Texas/Mexico border not speaking Spanish and how that has affected her Latinx identity. It's hard when you identify with two cultures, but you're not really "enough" of one or the other. Now that Alyssa has grown up and moved away from what she's known, she's had to break down other people's expectations of her.

Alyssa Y Saenz is a Tejana living in Los Angeles pursuing a career in entertainment. She’s fat and funny and doesn’t speak Spanish...but maybe that’ll change soon. You can find her online at @alyssayvonneappletea

  • F is For Friends

This week we have our dear friend/Twitter mutual Natalie Sizemore on the pod helping us talk about friendship, specifically in your 20s! Friendships develop and even fade out over time, so it's important to have good friends and commit to those relationships. Natalie shares how it was really hard for her to go from living with your best friends during college to maintaining long-distance friendships. We also discuss building the confidence to make new friends because talking to people is...hard.

  • Expectations

Our guest for this week is Maria Salmeron! She's a good friend, owner of her own construction company, and you would never know that she recently had to rebuild her entire future.

Maria shares her story about how the expectations she had for herself ever since she was a little girl changed after a painful break up. The husband, the house, and the family she always wanted after college were no longer in the picture. Now, she's working on finding value in herself and thinking about what her new goals in life are going to be.

You can find Maria's own podcast, The Reality of It Is, on Soundcloud right here: https://soundcloud.com/maria-salmeron-476090624

  • First-Gen Guilt

This week we have Yasmeen Yahya back on the show to talk about first generation guilt and how it makes every life decision a little bit harder. First-gens have to balance independence with our parents' expectations. These expectations are usually formed around the traditional values and collective ideologies that they grew up with, and if you go against any them...then shame!

Edeliz and Yasmeen discuss what first-gen guilt means to them and how they're trying to manage it. Rather than being an extension of our immigrant parents, we're working on embracing the best parts of them and becoming our own person.

  • Getting Fired

Our "Girls Just Wanna Have Funds" series continues with the hot topic of getting...fired. This week we have Fabiana, a publicist living in Austin, on the show telling us about the time when she got fired from her first professional job and how she coped with that experience.

You can find Fabiana on Instagram at @fffabianita serving looks and killing it on the pole. Because she's also an amazing pole dancer.

  • Post-Grad Woes

Our first episode of It's Personal kicks off our work series called "Girls Just Wanna Have Funds." We interviewed Yasmeen Yahya about what it's like to have a job after graduating, hating that said job, quitting, and navigating unemployment.

Unemployment is a hard subject, especially when you're young and supposed to be thriving in your 20s. We think that it's important to talk about the things that people don't share online because nobody should feel like they're going through it alone.
