Lavora Barnes, chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, joins Edwin for a conversation on the last weekend before the November 5th election.
"When you are out in the field here in Michigan and you see the enthusiasm, you see the hard work that our candidates and our volunteers are doing, it's heartening, it's exciting, and it feels really good," Barnes told Edwin. "I was worried. I think a lot of us were worried that that boost of enthusiasm we got when when the vice president took the home at the top of our ticket would wane, and instead it's grown. I think somebody told me that we've had over 100,000 people reach out to volunteer since she became the top of the ticket, which is an enormous number. Hard to even imagine that many folks stepping into making phone calls and doing doing doors and such here in Michigan, but it's happening, and I feel I'm honored just by the enthusiasm that the people have and by the terrific organization we put together to manage it all."

Ben Wikler, chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, joins Edwin for a conversation on the last weekend before the November 5th election.
At the end of the interview Edwin thanked Wikler for his hard work during the campaign. Wikler replied: "I will accept on behalf of the hundreds of people on our team that are doing amazing work, from our executive director, Cassi Fenili, all the way through our newest hires in the organizing team. People are working their hearts out, and our volunteers, tens of thousands, have knocked on more than 750,000 doors in the last two weeks alone in the state of Wisconsin. It is just breathtaking to see what everyone working together has built, and I feel like this effort on the ground is going to lead to a victory in Wisconsin."

About Edwin
Edwin Eisendrath served two terms in Chicago’s City Council before being appointed Midwest Region Director of HUD by President Bill Clinton. He was subsequently appointed Federal Receiver in charge of the takeover and turnaround of the Chicago Housing Authority.
Off the campaign trail, Edwin has worked in higher education and as a consultant to universities here and around the world. After the 2016 election cycle he knew he had to focus back home. He brought business and labor leaders together to rescue the Chicago Sun-Times and its subsidiary, the Chicago Reader. He ran the company as its CEO until both publications were saved.
Back in the 1990s Bill Clinton’s campaign slogan, "It’s the economy, stupid," captured the biggest concern of the era. Today American democracy itself is under attack. So Edwin launched an effort called, "It’s the democracy, stupid."
In addition to his radio show here on WCPT, Edwin has built a community around his political ideas on Substack, hosts a weekly show on Lincoln Square, and is a frequent guest on political shows. He remains deeply involved in democracy work.
He is a proud Chicagoan, married to the journalist Jennifer Schulze.
