Too often, we think about Universities and any place of teaching as places where young people learn about the past and form themselves for the professions that will define their career, and their life. While this is partially true, it is very far off from all the academic world is. As a matter of fact, it is the place where the future is made—something that shouldn’t be taken lightly under any circumstances.
Today's podcast is with Prof. Andrew Woodward, Executive Dean at Edit Cowan University, and Sonia Mackay-Coghill, ECU Vice-President of Engagement.
The topic of our conversation is related to the recently revealed project for the realization of ECU City: the boundary-breaking campus is set to reshape the heart of Perth (Australia) and deliver new energy that connects the city's business, cultural and entertainment precincts.
We take this opportunity to discuss what the role of Universities is moving forward and how it could, and should, become the connection point between generations, diverse academic disciplines, businesses, government, and ultimately the pulsating heart that can fuel a city's environment and its citizens.
If It is true—and it is—that the only constant in life is change, we must construct academic paths that lead to dynamic and ever-evolving careers. To do so, ECU has involved business partners and the government to help shape this vision of a university that mixes Creativity and Technology like it has never been done before.
Technology is undoubtedly fueling the digital transformation that is changing our society, but humanity is fueling it all. Creativity allows us to think outside the box, envisioning our future, experimenting with new ideas, communicating them, and of course, being sure that all of this serves humanity on a global scale.
ECU City will be a place where technology, industry, and creativity meet to deliver innovative thinkers, adaptive learners, and global citizens who will be the leaders of tomorrow.
Join us on this exciting journey into the University Of The Future.
