Hello humans, robots, intelligent or stupid beings, and everything in between. I welcome you all to the Cyber Society of Today—a wondrous place where 'what' is a possibility, 'how' is full of options, and 'when' is a mystery.

Despite what you may think, this is a real place. It is here, it is now, and most certainly you are in it. So, buckle up, be open-minded, and enjoy the ride—the doors are locked, and there is no place to hide.

The US is a country bound by laws: there’s no question about that—the country is driven by legislation and policy. Sometimes policies are set in advance of a situation—many times, laws are put into action in response to a situation or event. Sometimes they are enacted at the federal level—sometimes state and local governments lead the charge. Sometimes the US leads globally in policy innovation—sometimes the US takes a back seat and follows other counties.

To kick things off in this Episode Zero, we have a good chat with Jamie Hine from the FTC and Ryan Disraeli, representing a once-small, now medium-sized business. Together we recap the overall need for SMBs to be cyber aware, discuss the value of recognizing these common misconceptions, and review the plan we have moving forward as we cover each of them in this multi-episode series.

The architecture is Googie style, technology is absolutely everywhere, and all homes and businesses are high up in the sky supported by very tall columns. No need, in this conversation, to dig into the possible environmental or societal catastrophe that may have forced this solution. And, let's keep it as a joke about how that, in the year 2020, there is no such city; and why we are not living that life?
