  • The True Meaning of Being a Man with Jack Malone

For the final episode of season 5 Jack is joined again by his good friend Jack Malone, who first came on the podcast a year ago in season 4. Jack speaks about his experiences of growing up, and how his view on masculinity had a serious impact on his childhood and teenage years. This leads to a discussion on the themes of toxic masculinity, what it means to be a man in 2022, gender, sexuality, coming out and changing the belief systems from our childhood developmental years. There are some great takeaways on how we can all do our bit to change the status quo, and reframe how we view men in today's society.

  • Missing Out on Being a Teenager (Solo EP)

To mark the finale of season 4 and my 24th episode I'm going solo for the very first time! I've been podcasting for almost 3 years now, and I've never recorded a solo episode before. I adore interviewing guests and hearing their inspiring stories, it's the main reason why I started A Slice of Life in March 2019. However, 2021 for me has been a transformative year for so many reasons. This year, I've been pushed to my edge, grown, healed, struggled, and pretty much everything in between. The one thing that I'm beyond grateful for is my therapy, and the way it's helped me navigate this year. During this special episode I speak about my teenage years, and how I missed out on that time, and the experiences I didn't have. Thank you for listening to this season, I will be back for season 5 in 2022!

  • Hollyoaks Saved my Life with John Junior

For the fourth episode in Season 4 we have a real treat in store! Jack is joined by personal friend John Junior, a mental health campaigner from Cheshire doing incredible things to help others suffering with poor mental health. John suffers personally from Borderline Personality Disorder, depression and OCD. During the episode John speaks about the work they've done with their friend and companion Charlie, a duck who travels around Manchester and the UK to help raise awareness of mental health. In the last 2 years John has had features in LadBible, taken part in campaigns for Samaritans, and has even launched a campaign to bring DBT therapy to all, which you can view and sign below. However, the key part of the chat today focuses on the TV soap Hollyoaks, and how watching an episode of the show saved John's life. Trust me, this is an episode not to be missed.

Please note, this episode contains discussion around the area of suicide, which may not be suitable for some listeners, so please take care whilst listening.

  • Overcoming the Impossible with Jack Malone
For the 3rd episode of the season Jack is joined by close friend Jack Malone, a St Andrews university graduate, TEDx speaker and mental health campaigner. The pair connected via Instagram earlier this year, and have formed a close bond since. During the episode Jack speaks about his journey, and how his life now is totally unrecognisable to what it was as a child. He went from having a comfortable upbringing with a close family bond, to the relationship with his Dad breaking down, his sister fighting a battle with anorexia, and his Mom having to quit work to become a full time carer. Jack's sheer determination and strength is astounding on many levels, there will be moments that you laugh, cry and realise that no matter what your family situation is, it doesn't have to define your future. Jack ran for 12 hours in March 2021 from 6pm to 6am, raising funds and awareness for Rape Crisis Scotland Helpline, and delves into this, and so much more, during the episode.
