EXTREME HEAT COSTS - More than 85 percent of the country is going to experience temperatures above 90 degrees over the next week. In some places like Washington DC, the National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the area with expected heat index up to 110! These hot temperatures are not only uncomfortable but they’re also costly. A recent study by the Center for American Progress shows the extreme heat generates about $1 billion in health care costs every summer! Researchers say that’s because more people are rushing to the ER or taken to the hospital for temperature-related conditions. We break down these findings and what you can do to stay safe.
