The Christmas Rethink series is all about the mind and how our thoughts impact the inner life. This week we discuss why our thoughts matter, and how we can begin to be more aware of the influences that shape them.

Christmas is a season where mental health is under serious pressure. As part of our emphasis on developing an inner life we have put major emphasis on creating a love relationship with the Triune God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is a call to develop spiritual practices and habits that allow us to interact and connect with God. 

With the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures we will learn to pay attention to what is going on inside our hearts, minds and souls. We'll do this by paying attention to what we are feeling and what we are thinking. 

In this series leading up to Christmas we are calling on the church body to pay attention to what and how we are thinking. We will be challenged to evaluate what we are putting into our minds  We will be challenged to identify patterns of thought that are moving us toward either being mentally unhealthy, or healthy. We will discuss how to challenge narratives we create in our heads. 

We will see that we have the power to control our thought life by taking thoughts captive and making them obedient to Christ. 

We will celebrate Christmas by discovering real meaning, through Christ.

As we reflect on the Kyrie Eleison from last weekend, we discuss the power of coveting in our lives.

Part of the inner life is to pay attention to our desires and wants. The commandment do not covet is central to this conversation. Going after things we think we want can keep us from being aware of and pursuing what are our deepest, truest wants.
