  • Episode #325 – Drew the Disney Dude TALKS D23 Expo, Villains Land & Epic Universe
It is the 325th episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast!

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each one of you who have downloaded or streamed this podcast. Your support means the world to me.  And to the incredible guests who have shared their stories, and the publicists and teams who have trusted my brand, I am truly grateful.

I am beyond thrilled to welcome one of my favorite Disney content creators, Drew the Disney Dude, as my guest for this monumental episode. His insights and passion for all things Disney are sure to make this a memorable conversation.

Drew Smith is an Orlando, Florida-based content creator. He specializes in creating content on Disney Parks, The Walt Disney Company, and more. He was born next to Disneyland Resort, and that's where his love for Disney began. Drew started creating content in 2017 on arcades and taught people how to win jackpots before moving to Orlando in 2018. He has since called the Walt Disney World Resort his second home.

On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Drew shared his favorite Disney Parks attraction, his take on the 2024 Disney D23 Expo's announcement regarding Villains Land, and whether these new additions could counter the Universal Orlando Resort's Epic Universe theme park.

  • Episode #324: Boney James TALKS ‘Slow Burn’ & Billboard Success
It is a privilege to welcome legendary composer, producer, and saxophonist Boney James to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Boney’s musical journey began when he picked up the clarinet at eight and switched to the saxophone at 10.  His family moved from New Rochelle, New York, to Los Angeles when he was 14.  In the City of Angels, Boney James joined his first band and attended the University of California at Los Angeles. After he graduated with a history degree, he turned his attention to music full-time and learned to play keyboards.

In 1985, he joined Morris Day’s band and spent seven years as a sideman and touring musician for Bobby Caldwell, the Isley Brothers, Randy Crawford, and Teena Marie. In 1992, Boney released his debut album, Trust, and has released 15 solo studio albums and a collaborative record, Shake It Up, with Rick Braun in 2000.   Boney James also recorded many legendary recording artists such as Al Jarreau, Angie Stone, Anthony Hamilton, Faith Evans, George Benson, and Kenny Lattimore.

In 2014, Boney produced two songs on Al Jarreau’s tribute record to George Duke, My Old Friend: “Bring Me Joy” (with George Duke) and “No Rhyme, No Reason” (with Kelly Price). The following year, he first appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.   Earlier this year, Boney James made history as he became the first recording artist to hit 20 number one singles on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart. In addition to his Billboard milestone, he is a four-time Grammy Award nominee and a Soul Train Award winner. Boney also received three NAACP Image Award nominations for Best Jazz Album.

On October 18, Boney will release his nineteenth studio album, Slow Burn. The record’s first single, “All I Want is You,”  is a collaboration with rising R&B star October London. The song was Boney’s fastest-reaching single on Adult Urban Radio, reaching the Top 30 in three weeks and crossing the 1 million streams milestone within two weeks on Pandora.

On this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Boney James discussed the lessons he learned from Bobby Caldwell, Morris Day, and Teena Marie, Slow Burn’s recording process, and “All I Want is You’s” viral success.

  • Episode #323: Liv Warfield TALKS Prince, ‘AGT’ Journey & Teatro ZinZanni
It is an honor and privilege to welcome singer-songwriter and performer Liv Warfield to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

A former track star and gymnast, Peoria, Illinois-born Liv Warfield began building her legend in Portland, Oregon. Despite having no formal background in singing, she gained the respect of local superstars and became an icon in her own right. While she takes cues from musical influences like Nina Simone, Etta James, Mavis Staples, Sade, Tina Turner, and Mary J. Blige, Warfield has carved out a style all her own, which can best be described as “alternative soul with a lil bit of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” In 2006, she self-released her debut album, Embrace Me. By 2009, she caught the eye of the one-and-only Prince and ultimately joined his group, the “New Power Generation.”

After touring for several years and soaking up as much knowledge as she could from the ultimate music mentor, Warfield made her big splash on the national scene in 2014, first as a featured artist for VH1’s “You Oughta Know” campaign and then with the release of her major label debut album “The Unexpected,” which was executive produced by Prince. What followed were show-stopping performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Arsenio Hall Show; a 2014 Soul Train Music Award and nominations for two others; a BET Best New Artist Award nomination; an interview with National Public Radio; and high-profile cosigns from Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, and Nancy Wilson of HEART. That same year, Warfield’s performance closing out Essence Fest was hailed as one of the most memorable after-shows at the New Orleans House of Blues. In 2015, the accolades grew, with Warfield and the NPG Hornz being named one of the top 10 bands to see at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. It’s no wonder she has left celebrities like Letterman declaring it’s time to “cancel show business!”

In 2017, Warfield began the next phase of her ascension, collaborating with another of her childhood influences, the aforementioned Nancy Wilson, to create the band Roadcase Royale. Their lead single, “Get Loud,” was featured prominently in the 2017 Women’s March, and they released their debut album, First Things First, later that year. If that weren’t enough, their remake of HEART’s “These Dreams” was featured in Molly’s Game, which starred Idris Elba, Jessica Chastain, and Kevin Costner. Warfield recently recorded music for the Oscar-nominated HBO documentary Da Bronx. She also tipped her hat into the theater realm to rave reviews playing Madame ZinZanni in the Chicago version of Teatro ZinZanni.

This past summer, Liv Warfield auditioned for the NBC talent competition America’s Got Talent: Season 19. Liv and her band performed an original song: “Stare,” that received a standing ovation from not only judges Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell but also a Golden Buzzer from the Got Talent creator.  During the AGT: Season 19 Quarterfinals, Liv and the band blew the audience away by performing “The Unexpected,” a song Prince wrote for her.

In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Liv Warfield spoke about the lessons she learned from Prince, her time on AGT, and performing in Teatro ZinZanni.

  • Episode #322: Sarah Alexandra Marks TALKS Dancing, ‘Doctor Who’ & ‘Escape’
It is a privilege to welcome actress and dancer Sarah Alexandra Marks to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Sarah was born in Essex, England. She trained as a dancer, going on to perform at prestigious venues, most notably the Royal Opera House.  She transitioned to screen acting and appeared on various television shows, including Kosmos, The Midnight Hour, and Doctor Who: Fractured Timeline. On September 30, she will star in Howard J. Ford's Escape.   The film stars Marks, Sophie Rankin (Bermondsey Tales and DarkGame), and Sean Cronin (Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation and The Mummy Returns). Escape focuses on ten trafficked women who, after being abducted from a remote island resort, find themselves in the clutches of a ruthless criminal gang. Desperate to survive in the harsh desert, two women devise a bold escape plan, igniting their fight for freedom.

"Working on Escape, more specifically with Howard J Ford, was a breath of fresh air - he is a wonderful director to work with, every day, every scene, every moment carries meaning and passion. Collaborating with him on this film reinvigorated me as an artist and performer,” said Marks.

"With Howard's trust, I could explore my character freely and easily. I truly believe this helped me be present in each moment, both on and off camera. The cast and crew were phenomenally hard-working and a pleasure to unwind with after days in the sand. The film captures shots of the desert that would make Sergio Leone fans happy and those who love full-blown action are in for a treat."

On this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Sarah Alexandra Marks previewed Escape and reminisced about dancing on the Royal Opera House stage and appearing in Doctor Who: Fractured Timeline.

  • Episode #321: Lark TALKS Opening for BB King, International Music Market & Songwriting
It is a privilege to welcome Lark to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Lark is a fearless and dynamic indie-pop artist from Australia whose unmistakable style is influenced by the icons of her upbringing. Growing up, the boldness of 1984 Madonna, the glamour and attitude of KISS, and the infectious melodies of Swedish pop created a musical foundation that continues to shape her artistic expression today. With a rich background in the live music touring circuit, she has honed her craft on stages worldwide, opening for iconic artists including BB King, Johnny Johnson, and Men at Work.

In 2023, Lark started working with Australian Independent Producer of the Year, Jono Fernandez (Sia, Morgan Page). Together, they released her first single, “Unicorn,” an upbeat and quirky indie pop song brimming with positivity and tuneful hooks. For Lark, the single marks her musical rebirth and is dedicated to her besties. “Unicorn” quickly became a favorite for radio stations around Australia and Europe, where it went to number one on the Euro Indie Music Chart.

Following the release of “Unicorn,” Lark released a handful of other singles, including the dance floor no-brainer “I’m With You” and the optimistic indie-pop track “Good Good Energy.” Both singles quickly shot to #1 on both the World Indie Music Charts and the Euro Indie Music Chart, with the latter maintaining a solid position on both charts for over 5 months! Written for her daughter, “I’m With You” is about unconditional love and acceptance and features a wicked beat and catchy pre-chorus.  “Good Good Energy” is inspired by her move away from the big smoke and showcases her reconnection with nature.

Her single, “All I Want Is You,” saw Lark stepping into the dance side of indie. With a killer bass drop, infectious groove, and cheeky lyrics, this song is a road trip must-have and another dance floor banger. “The song is about missing someone so much and that sense of urgency to finally be together,” Lark explains. “I may or may not have envisioned myself being in the Fast and the Furious while I was writing this song.”   Unapologetically herself, Lark has embraced her journey of self-discovery and love while merging it with upbeat pop music.

On this episode of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Lark shared her origin story, sharing the stage with the late BB King and Johnnie Johnson, and spoke about the stories behind some of her songs.

  • Episode #319: Isaac Mashman TALKS ‘Personal Branding’s New Volume & Entrepreneurship
It is a privilege to welcome author, coffee addict, podcast host, and speaker Isaac Mashman to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Hailing from a single-parent home that fell on the lower end of the economic spectrum, Isaac grew up seeing and understanding what the lack of money and vision would result in. Atypical to many "modern" stories, Isaac was a top 10 student in his class and was bound for college, that is, when in his senior year of high school, he realized that a degree in marketing made no sense for his ambitions.

After launching an apparel line called "Success Before Rest Apparel," he made his first couple of dollars online and began collecting information from various virtual mentors. Stepping away from hustling merchandise, he fell into the Network Marketing industry. He joined three companies four times, ultimately leaving the field to pursue something he had more control over. Over three years, he tried his hand at half a dozen business models, from drop shipping, social media work, and even launching a record label managing musical talent before the COVID-19 pandemic. Having to cancel a concert due to the early fear of the virus, the lack of freedom gave Isaac room to think about his ambitions and led him to what is now his vehicle, the public relations firm Mashman Ventures. He previously hosted the business and self-development-centered podcast Chase the Vision with Isaac Mashman (launched in June 2019), which he ended after 100 episodes in June of 2022. He is working on a new show that will merge the niches of business, celebrity, and entertainment that will launch in 2023.

Isaac Mashman founded his first company, the public relations firm Mashman Ventures, on April 17, 2020. After a four-year run in that business, he decided to dissolve his company and launch Mashman Consulting Group on July 18, 2024. Taking the best aspects of their approach, expertise, and strategies, MCG was founded as the next evolution and marks the continuation of his work in personal branding and individual reputation management.

On November 1, 2021, Isaac released his first book, Personal Branding: A Manifesto on Fame and Influence. The book became Amazon's number one new release in Public Relations and a Top 10 Best Seller in the category. He is working on a second edition, which will expand on the subject and is expected to be released in Fall 2024.

On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Isaac Mashman spoke about writing Personal Branding: A Manifesto on Fame & Influence and how Chase the Vision with Isaac Mashman Podcast enhanced his brand.

  • Episode #318: Lily Kincade TALKS Taylor Swift & Lana Del Rey’s Influence, GRAMMYs & Songwriting
It is a privilege to welcome indie pop sensation (and fellow Kansas Citian) Lily Kincade to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

Lily's unique approach to fan engagement, characterized by her boundless charisma and savvy yet sincere use of social media, has formed an incredible bond with her fans over the years. Unlike some artists who take offense at comparisons, Lily Kincade embraces them as a way of connecting with her fans, most of whom grew up idolizing the same stars she does (namely Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift).

By populating her social media feeds with covers and memes of songs that her fanbase has known for years, Lily manages to create an in-language with her followers. This devotion to curating community amongst her listeners is what truly sets Kincade apart; she has a Discord page where she regularly shares jokes and edits with her fans, as well as a weekly "mental health check-in Monday" that has become something of a ritual with her 64,000 plus Instagram followers.

In addition to Lily's mental health advocacy, her music has been noticed by various media outlets. Audacy, Entertainment Tonight Canada, MTV, PopCrush, and Rolling Stone have profiled her, and the Recording Academy invited Lily to perform on the Grammys' website.

On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Lily Kincade spoke about her Grammys website performance and shared stories behind several songs.
