  • Canada's Got Talent: Season Two Special #4: Atsushi Ono
Canada's Got Talent (CGT): Season Two is off and running!

The show's on-air team, judges Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus, and Kardinal Offishall, and host Lindsey Ell are back, looking for Canada's best talent. The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast is grateful to CGT for welcoming back some of my favorite acts who impressed me during the Judges' Auditions.

Magician Atsushi Ono is the third act to visit The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Born in 1979 in Kyoto, Japan, Atsushi first became fascinated by magic as an elementary school student after seeing magic performed on television. He practiced alone for years until a chance encounter in 2002. While he studied in the United States, Atsushi met professional magicians Tom Frank and Tobias Pashia, who invited Atsushi to study under them. Their mentoring forever changed Atsushi Ono's approach to magic. His abilities not only earned Atsushi awards and the respect of his colleagues but also made him one of the most entertaining, funny, and -yes- magical performers you will ever see. Following his return to Japan, he held an exclusive engagement nearly seven days a week for two years at French Drop in Osaka, one of Japan's top magic theater bars.

Looking to broaden his horizons, in 2008, Atsushi Ono moved to Canada and began creating a series of original acts. Atsushi Ono received numerous awards, including second place and the 2009 People's Choice Award at the Society of American Magicians in Buffalo, NY. That same year, he won the People's Choice Award at the International Brotherhood of Magicians convention in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2010, he was invited to perform at the most renowned FFFF convention (Fecher's Finger Flicking Frolic), the most prestigious gathering of close-up magicians worldwide. He now resides in and performs in Canada, the United States, and Japan. His relaxed charm, sense of humor, and creative approach to performing have made him a famous magician and entertainer who is equally at home performing at large events and up close for small groups.

In this special Canada's Got Talent: Season Two edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Atsushi Ono spoke about his audition, including his take on judge Kardinal Offishall walking off during the presentation. Canada's Got Talent airs on CityTV.

  • Episode 220: Gerard Longo TALKS Underground Music Collective, Pt. 1
pleasure to welcome Gerard Longo to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Gerard is the founder of the Underground Music Collective (UMC). The journey to the UMC’s founding started in the summer of 2013. He worked in New York City as a contractor at a major corporation, and the commute between New Jersey and NYC had burnt him out, so he looked for a creative outlet. One night in August, he decided to listen to episodes of his college radio show called The Quinn Spinn. At the end of the evening, Gerard found his outlet. He decided to restart the show but decided to focus more on independent artists. Gerard turned to Twitter and asked dozens of artists if the podcast could feature their music, and surprisingly, several said: “Yes.” The second volume of The Quinn Spinn welcomed a crazy cast of characters and featured interviews with musicians on five continents that led to over 100 pieces of programming from 2013 to 2015. In May 2015, the show took a hiatus as he moved to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he wanted to dig into the arts and culture. In January 2016, Gerard Longo launched the Lehigh Valley Underground (LVU), serving eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey music scenes. They grew quickly locally, and the LVU expanded to regularly host and sponsor events while capturing awards for our work in the community. Near the end of the Summer of 2018, several life events and his experience in the music industry made Gerard want to take the platform to another level. He decided to move to an “industry town,” as it would be the only way to connect our content and the artists it serves to the greater musical world. In November 2018, Gerard Longo re-branded LVU as the UMC to help provide content and resources applicable to music professionals worldwide. He also moved to Nashville in search of a new adventure. Since moving to Nashville, UMC has developed partnerships with major brands, including CAA (Creative Artists Agency), Universal Music Group, Red Bull, and the Tennessee Titans. Gerard Longo shared his origin story and insights working in the music industry in part one of our conversation in this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.

  • Canada's Got Talent: Season 2-Special #2: Geneviève Côté
Canada's Got Talent (CGT): Season Two is off and running! The show's on-air team, judges Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus, and Kardinal Offishall, and host Lindsey Ell are back, looking for Canada's best talent. The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast is grateful to CGT for welcoming back some of my favorite acts who impressed me during the Judges' Auditions. Geneviève Côté is the first act to visit the podcast! Born in Montreal and raised in Laval, Geneviève has been passionate about voices and noises since birth. Inspired by her idols, the little ones Simard, Céline Dion, Dominique Michel, The Looney Tunes, and many others, she went on stage for the first time at the age of four. From a very young age, she was immediately won over and very inspired by actor-comedian and sound designer Michael Winslow (Police Academy). So she begins to imitate every sound out there, from the creaking of a door to the bottle of window cleaner to the sound effects of her favorite Atari video game, Asteroids. Subsequently, it was the group of Quebec comedians Rock et Belles Oreilles and the comedian and singer Weird Al Yankovic who gave him the taste to write his own parodies and make his dream a vocation. While she was a young single mother in her early twenties, it was in 1998 that Geneviève presented herself alone with her baby at the Action Intervention Jeunesse competition at the Salle André-Mathieu in Laval. She lifts the crowd and wins the hearts of judges François Massicotte, Maxim Roy, Jean Aroldi, and Luc De La Rochelière with her imitation and parody of Celine Dion. She, therefore, won the title of Laureate of the first prize in the humor category as well as practically all the awards of the evening. Geneviève Côté was discovered in 2010 on YouTube with her video parodies of Lady Gaga, Lisa Leblanc and Gérald Tremblay. Since then, she has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Mike Ward, Cathy Gauthier, France D'Amour, Marjo, André Sauvé, P-A Méthot, Alex Perron, and many others. She has been seen on stage as part of the Just for Laughs festival on productions by Joël Legendre, such as La Fureur and Le show 100% Inimitable and in the Humor Blind galas at the Saint-Denis Theater on several occasions. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Geneviève Côté spoke about her audition and reaction when Howie Mandel pressed his Golden Buzzer. Canada's Got Talent airs on CityTV!

  • Episode #219: Philmon Lee TALKS Collaborations with Lindsey Stirling & Young Thug
It is a pleasure to welcome recording artist Philmon Lee to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Surrounded by musicians in his family, Philmon picked up multiple instruments as a kid in the small town of LaGrange, Georgia, developing his skills in piano, guitar, and drums. He cut his teeth on tour with his dad and cultivated his vocals through constant practice. Under the influence of everyone from Elvis Presley, Elton John, and Steven Tyler to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Post Malone, Philmon Lee simultaneously pushed himself as a songwriter. He grinded locally with countless gigs before signing to Epic Records in 2020. Following his buzzing debut single, “Memories,” Philmon gained traction with “No Saving Me,” his collaboration with Lindsey Stirling, paving the way for his acclaimed 2021 706 EP. Recently, he released “Baby Don’t Cry,” a collaboration with Young Thug. In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Philmon Lee spoke about his major musical influences and spoke about the stories behind several of his hits, including “Memories,” “No Saving Me,” and “Baby Don’t Cry.”

  • Canada's Got Talent S2 Special #1: Trish Stratus
Canada’s Got Talent (CGT) is back! I am honored and privileged to welcome one of my favorite judges, Trish Stratus, to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. She joined the judges’ table in Season One of the iconic Got Talent franchise alongside Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Kardinal Offishall, and guest judge and franchise creator Simon Cowell. She helped make CGT, Citytv’s most-viewed original series in over a decade. Post-pandemic life has been busy for the WWE Hall of Famer. The eight-time WWE Champion and fitness icon wrapped up 2022 with the release of the holiday movie Christmas in Rockwell, in which she stars. The film made Amazon’s Top 10 romance movies and is now available on DVD and various streaming platforms. Trish Stratus, named number one on the list of WWE’s Greatest Female Superstars, was inducted into the United States National Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame and was the first woman recipient of the industry’s prestigious Lou Thesz Award. In addition to her accomplishments in the wrestling world, Trish Stratus also has a fitness lifestyle brand called Startussphere, which stemmed from opening Canada’s largest yoga studio in 2008, that has since spun off into a line of yoga and fitness products in retail stores across Canada. She also has a line of DVDs that feature her signature yoga program, Stratusphere Yoga, which she designed, incorporating strength training into a yoga flow. He starred in over 50 commercials for Life Cereal and McDonald’s. When he was four, Spencer Breslin debuted on ABC’s short-lived sitcom Soul Man and appeared in the 1999 three-part horror miniseries Stephen King’s Storm of the Century. Those experiences lead Spencer to star in several films, including Disney’s The Kid (starring Bruce Willis), The Santa Clause 2 and The Santa Clause 3 (starring Tim Allen), The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (starring Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway), and The Cat in the Hat (starring Mike Myers and Dakota Fanning).
