The Washington Nationals plan to bring up outfielder James Wood for his Major League debut on Monday night against the Mets. This demonstrates the team's commitment to promoting their top prospects before the All-Star break.

Wood, a highly regarded 21-year-old, will be playing for Triple-A Rochester this weekend and will then join the Nationals in Washington, D.C.

Wood's promotion is expected to be the Nationals' most anticipated debut in recent years. He was acquired in a trade with the Padres and is currently ranked as the third best prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline.

Wood has been performing well at the Triple-A level this season, and despite a minor injury, he has been showcasing his skills. After his return, he has recorded impressive statistics including a .346 batting average, 10 home runs, 34 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases in 51 games.

Wood will join other promising prospects from the Juan Soto trade, including shortstop CJ Abrams and left-hander MacKenzie Gore, as they all play together for the first time as members of the Nationals.
